Riverstone Community Thrift is not just a store. It is a resource. A starting point. A quiet answer to needs that too often go unmet.

We are building something new in north-central West Virginia. A place where someone can find a warm coat or a clean blanket. Where a parent can get new socks for their child or groceries to get through the weekend. A store that welcomes everyone, but forgets no one.

This is the first storefront planned under Riverstone Community Services, the operational branch of West Virginia State Hospital Initiative Inc. It will offer gently used clothing and household goods alongside brand-new basics and a light selection of grocery items. More importantly, it will operate on a model that allows anyone to shop with dignity while quietly helping those who cannot pay. Through a simple voucher system, families in crisis will receive what they need without judgment, red tape, or delay.

Every item sold will help fund programs that deliver real, measurable assistance, beds for children, emergency supplies, access to mental health care, and more. Every dollar that comes in will be stretched to its full potential, with low overhead and a clear mission.

We are seeking startup support to open the doors and keep them open for at least one full year. That includes securing a location, preparing the space, stocking the shelves, and making sure the lights stay on. With your help, we can create something lasting. Something steady. Something real.

Our goal is to open by late summer or fall of 2026. We will be ready if the support is there.

Hi, my name is Titus Swan. I’m the Founder and Executive Director of WVSHI Inc., and this fundraiser supports one of the most essential programs under our operational branch, Riverstone Community Services.

Bed for Every Head was created to respond to something no child should ever face, sleeping on the floor, sharing crowded couches, or going without a bed entirely. This program provides new beds, mattresses, and complete bedding kits to children who don’t have one, at no cost to the family.

While we often receive referrals through schools and partners, families can also apply directly. If a child lacks a safe place to sleep, we want to help.

Donations to this fundraiser go directly toward purchasing beds, bedding, and helping us deliver them where they’re needed most. This is not about extras, it’s about restoring dignity through something as simple, and essential, as a place to rest.

WVSHI Inc. exists to document and protect the truth about West Virginia’s state hospitals, places where generations lived, died, and were often buried without record, family, or ceremony. Through programs like Project Dignity and The Legacy Project, we are helping restore cemeteries, recover identities, and return meaning to what others tried to erase.

Riverstone Community Services, our operational branch, turns that same mission toward the present. We distribute food, hygiene supplies, winter coats, beds, and diapers across West Virginia. We assist graduate counseling students, support struggling families, and are preparing to open outpatient clinics offering mental health services to those who’ve been left without care for far too long.
