Hello! My name is Raelyn. I am a high school student and I strongly believe that adolescents and others need resources such as a suicide hotline. None of this money would go to me; it would all go to the hotline. I strongly encourage you or others to donate. As the world becomes increasingly more difficult to navigate, resources such as these are becoming a necessity. Social media shows us the entire world and that can overpower one's brain and ones own health. Mental health resources are just as important as seeing a doctor yearly. whether it is to speak to someone about a specific issue, or if you feel hopeless, 988 is there, and we can help them to stay here.

I'm raising money for The Suicide Prevention Lifeline, an essential support tool for those struggling with depression and thoughts of self-harm. The organization responsible for this lifeline is Vibrant Emotional Health (or Mental Health Association of NYC), and the quality of the lifeline is largely upheld by volunteers who dedicate their time to such vital work.

As someone who struggles with depression and used the lifeline before, I am incredibly lucky that I was able to talk to someone who eased me out of my destructive thoughts at the time, and this hotline potentially saved my life that day. However, I witness so many peers who struggle with mental health continue the battle on their own. Unfortunately, there are many who have lost faith in the benefit of using this hotline due to past calls that were not picked up and encounters with volunteers who were burned out. I hope that by fundraising for this nonprofit, we can support their hardworking volunteers and sustain high-quality worker training and service delivery. Please raise awareness for this fundraiser in any way that you can!
