After a one-year hiatus, the Charlottesville Racing Club is looking forward to raising money once again for Toy Lift, a local Charlottesville charity. Toy Lift Charities believe that every child is entitled to a happy and enriched childhood. Its mission is to support local families through volunteerism, community cooperation, morale building, and educational tools.
The purposes and objectives of the Charity are to:
- Provide toys and books to area children ages newborn through 8th grade
- Seek charitable contributions of money, toys, books and other needed items
- Seek volunteer assistance from the community
- Not interfere with any governmental or community agencies already assisting area children
This year, the Charlottesville Racing Club will participate in two events to build bikes for local kids. The first is the Underground Cycling Challenge on Sunday, September 12. This is the third year of the "underground" edition of an annual charity ride that once attracted hundreds of cyclists. Anyone is welcome to participate in the Underground Cycling Challenge, which leaves from Old Trail Village at 8am, but it should be noted that the pace is fast!
The second event is the triumphant return of the Spin-a-Thon on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall on Saturday, October 9. Members of the club will set up stationary bikes downtown and spin from morning until afternoon, raising as much money as possible through direct donations (cash or card) from passersby. Additional donations in support of either or both of these missions can be made through this GoFundMe.
Thank you for your support!
