After six very long years searching, The Spiel Foundation has found a home, its very own building in Indianapolis!

We are naming our new space The DeKoven Center for Play to honor the amazing legacy of my dear friend and mentor Bernie (Blue) DeKoven. To us, Blue is the Patron Saint of Play. The arc of Blue’s life is a beautiful testament to play as a powerful and positive force in the universe. Our dream is to spread this message far and wide and strive to make the world just a little more playful in any way we can.

The DeKoven Center for Play is located at 3904 N Emerson Ave. It is a former church.

The Center for Play will be a hub for all The Spiel Foundation's activities and good work.

There will be a community center with a game library and organized play events on a regular basis.

We will have classrooms available for seminars and play testing.

We will have event space large enough to host fundraisers and mini-cons.

We will have meeting space available for local non profits.

AND we will have a vastly expanded warehouse, allowing us to collect, curate and donate tens of thousands of games to organizations in need across North America and around the world. We’ll also have space to support smaller international publishers, connecting them to a wider audience.

This big beautiful dream will take some time to build as we remodel and expand the space to suit our needs, but I am beyond excited to see how far we can go.

And we will need so much help along the way!

Our space will be a welcoming, inclusive, safe, and fun space for a diverse community of Spielers. And from this community, I can’t wait to meet the many people who will want to help the foundation thrive and grow.

This is the start of an epic journey, lifetimes in the making. And with no guarantee of success, of course. It could all come crashing down. The world is filled with so much despair and hate and strife. Our choice is to face that darkness by stepping to the plate and taking a big swing with hope in our hearts and confidence that we can make things just a little better. We’re OK with striking out, so long as we are swinging for joy.

The world needs more Champions of FUN and we would love to count you among them. Here is your chance to donate and show your support. Our shipping budget alone tips into the tens of thousands. And now with a building to maintain and remodel, the path to financial stability goes up and up. Our initial goal of 50,000 would be an amazing step in that direction.

This fundraising drive will help us pay for delivering another 20,000+ games as part of our bundle program!

We donate thousands of board game bundles to hospitals, senior centers, boys & girls clubs, domestic violence and homeless shelters, mental health facilities, libraries, and schools across the United States and Canada and around the world. For a deep dive into the game bundle program click here.

Right now, all the games are packed up in our mini-warehouse (aka Spiel Foundation HQ garage!). There's almost no room to move, there are so many boxes!

Every game in each bundle is prepped for play - we assemble pieces, punch and bag components so they won't get lost or damaged. To learn more about how we prep games, click here !

Shipping out thousands of parcels is EXPENSIVE. Our estimates put the total shipping bill for this wave of deliveries at $50,000-60,000 or more!

As prices continue to skyrocket, we may not be able to cover all this expense without your help!

Every dollar you donate helps us put more games in places where they are sorely needed. We hope every game bundle we send out reaches players young and old who can use a little more fun in their lives.
