Everybody, this is oliver.
Oliver is 3 years old and he is my best friend, my son, the apple of my eye!
When oliver was just six weeks old we where told that he had a permanent moderate hearing loss in both ears after extensive gruelling hearing tests at the audiology centre in Alderhey children's hospital.
The news completely flipped our world upside down and we were left in a complete mess, not knowing were to turn, or what to expect, what did our little Oliver's life look like as a deaf child?
When oliver was first diagnosed we were all so worried about him, now he becomes brighter and more articulate everyday. Watching oliver grow is like watching a flower slowly blossom.
Although little Oliver is thriving in his learning, Unfortunately it will always be a greater struggle for little people like oliver, as there are barriers to education for children with hearing impairments.
The National Deaf Society offer young children support in education by providing training courses for professional establishments and services that work with young and deaf children.
They offer family sign language courses, and provide young people with radio aid systems to help them hear better in a noisy classrooms or after school clubs.
all of this helps deaf children feel more included within educational and social setting as well as providing them with the greatest opportunity possible to get the best out of their younger years.
We as a team are hoping to support the National Deaf Children Society with your help by raising awareness and funds in order for them to carry on improving the lives of every young person that are deaf.
we will be doing this by completing the three peak challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell pike and Snowdon within 3 days with the challenge beginning on the 28/09/2022 and finishing on 30/09/2022.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
From me, little Oliver and all the children of the Deaf community. Thank you for reading our plea for help. xx
