Eventual Dance Company Valentines Day Fundraiser
Thank you for your interest in supporting Eventual Dance Company! EDC, directed by Caitlin Canty, is raising funds to support producing our very first in-person evening-length show this June. Help us raise $5,000 by Valentine's Day!
All funds received will go directly toward equitable pay for rehearsal hours and performance fees for a cast of 7 dancers and 3 musicians as we prepare for our very first in-person evening-length show this June. Our show will feature two dances: a solo danced by Leila Magnolia Smith featuring a very sparkly disco-mirrored hula hoop, and an ensemble piece set to original music performed by a live band.
In solidarity with artist-activists in Boston such as Victoria Awkward of VLA Dance, MIDDAY Movement Series, Jenna Pollack and Projects, Detritus Dance, and others, Eventual Dance Company is committed to financial transparency. This means sharing the budget and financial information with all company members, audience, and funders, with the end goal of increasing financial support and pay equity in the arts. Please see this spreadsheet of our projected expenses.
In reality, to achieve what I would deem equitable pay for all the artists ($20 / hour for rehearsal hours, and a $200 performance fee per show), we need closer to $17,000 total. Even this feels embarrassingly low, given the current cost of living in the Boston area and the skill level of the performers. I chose $5,000 as a reasonable starting point given that this is our very first fundraiser, but any contribution above or beyond this amount will go a long way.
Because of our fiscal sponsorship with Studio@550, all donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for donating and sharing with your networks. See you at the show!
