Update: WE NOW HAVE THE DOG IN A FOSTER! She goes to the vet tomorrow so please donate towards her care!

This dog was just tossed in a work building on Skid Row. The “owner” said “she’s yours now”. She is in IMMENSE pain and can’t even be touched without crying.

We do NOT have the dog yet and CANNOT without pledges and a committed foster in the LA area.

We need vet care, we need supplies and we need DONATIONS.

This would be a horrible nightmare...if it didn't really happen.

Buster was living in a garage in a small crate. He was starved and lived day and night in a dark, stuffed garage. Right next to his crate, was a propane canister. His "owners" didn't see anything wrong and didn't even know how long he was starving for.

We were able to rescue him and he needs to recover from the horror he lives.

If you can donate, it would help us pay for vetting, special food and supplies to get him back to health. He is in bad shape.

Meet Lola who first appeared the day before Thanksgiving in Mid-City.

While we attempted to locate her owners, Lola disappeared during the night and showed up again on December 10th in another neighborhood - hungry and still unclaimed.

Enter Scott - the caring neighbor who has set Lola up as safely as possible outside of his home. Despite being scared and tired, Lola has quickly gone from quivering and cowering to happy ears, wagging tail and very accepting of food from the neighbors trying to keep her alive.

Enter "Starts With One Today " who would like to take on Lola's case despite an overwhelming holiday season and lack of fosters. To do this, we need to sponsor Lola financially to ensure the best possible outcome.

As I approach my milestone 40th birthday and my 10th anniversary doing animal rescue, my goal this year is to highlight some of the recent dog rescues that I've been a part of and need support with.

I’m doing this fundraiser through Starts With One Today so that those of you who donate can get a tax write off. There are a couple of our amazing rescue peers that are helping find some of the dogs homes too, so the funds will follow a dog to whatever rescue helps them find their homes. We have helped so many dogs find happy homes and we want the same for these angels.

There are 7 dogs. 5 dogs are here in LA and 2 are in Mexico, which I will want to bring to LA once 2 of the 5 here are placed.

**** All of these dogs were pulled from awful situations where humans failed them and literally left for dead. They have never been trained or have been shown affection and structure. Because of their lack of training, most of these dogs will need training assessments to be placed in proper foster homes/ forever homes. Anyone who has ever invested in training, will know that it comes at a hefty price if you're working with experienced and reliable trainers. An assessment is roughly $200 and if the dog needs ongoing training, a month of board and training is roughly $3,000 ****

These are the angels that need help:

#1 - These two dogs were found in an abandoned Compton parking lot. They weren't being fed, had no water, and were relying on one another to stay safe, We rescued them during one of the severe rain storms. They were soaking wet and scared but THRILLED to be safe. They are unfortunately in boarding now and deserve to feel what it's like to be in proper homes with cushy beds showered with love.

#2 Big Mac was saved off Skid Row after living on a heavy chain since he was a puppy. He's also in boarding and needs to feel the comfort of a real home. He has big puppy energy and has so much love to give.

#3 We rescued Lena from Downtown LA where she had just had a litter and was so sick from her body being infected that she was unable to feed her babies. Her babies survived and now it's her turn. We also urgently rescued Oreo and Buttercup who were both tied to a gate for three weeks starving to death in Compton. Oreo is in boarding and Buttercup is in an amazing foster's house that needs a forever home.

#4 These two stray dogs from Puerto Vallarta were languishing on the streets. One has a broken leg and one had rotting bite marks on his head. I got them both to a vet and are healing. I don’t want them back on the streets and would love to find a home in LA or a rescue in LA or Puerto Vallarta.

#5 A vet in Puerto Vallarta I met has rented an area for homeless dogs to live in. But he’s behind on his rent. Since he works at a vet, these dogs get ongoing vet care but the sanctuary is VERY bare bones. He needs supplies and money for rent and I would love to help him with that.

#6 A husky was living under a car in South LA and terrified to get out. He is covered in ticks and needs to be brought to a vet for care. He is in a temp foster now and needs assessment and a home.

My goal is to raise enough money to get some of these dogs to set them up for success and find them amazing homes. Some of these dogs have PTSD from being abused from their previous owners so the donation will be used for training.

I know that this is a hefty sum of money to be aiming for. That said, here is a breakdown of what it can cost to rescue ONE dog who is HEALTHY and set it up for real success. Once a dog is saved from death, the real work begins and could take MONTHS.

Supplies (bed, crate, collar, leash, bowls, poop bags, toys, treats, food, bones). ($400-500)

Basic vet exam ($60-80)

Fecal ($70)

Flea meds ($30-40)

Urinalysis ($150)

Basic Blood Panel ($150-200)

Ear infection meds and or antibiotics ($40-80)

Training Assessment ($200)

1 week of boarding ($350)

On the High end $1670-- this gets a dog the proper supplies it needs, a boarding/holding spot for ONE week, and an assessment for a trainer. Again- this is ONE dog, who has NO health issues- which there are ALWAYS health issues even if it's as minor as an infection, or as severe as a broken leg.

This poor angel was dumped at a shelter sick. He has been pooping blood for days and needs to be hospitalized. He needs an ultrasound to find out what is going on with his intestines. Just one day of hospitalization is $1500 with fluids. We are trying to give him a shot- if you’re able to donate please do- we want to give him a fighting chance of 2 days. He’s eating and so loving so we’re hoping he will fight!

Recently, I had the honor to visit the Lancaster Animal Care Center in Lancaster, CA. Now, when I say "the honor," what I mean is the honor of being introduced to so many amazingly beautiful dogs. They were friendly, loving, and some even comical. Unfortunately, they only have limited time there until they are euthanized. It is so unfair. The center itself is not a bad place, but they can only hold so many dogs for so long until it becomes overwhelming. I witnessed the unthinkable without wanting to. Beautiful, precious, innocent creatures all dead after being euthanized. They did nothing wrong. I will never forget this image. The people who dumped them there are the guilty parties. After using these poor souls for fighting, forced pregnancies, and breeding for profit, these dogs are, more or less, not needed anymore, so they are, without an ounce of empathy, dropped off to be killed.

Seeing this inspired me to start this GoFundMe page. The people I went to the Lancaster Animal Care Center were representing the animal rescue STARTS WITH ONE TODAY. They are an amazing group of people who spend countless hours rescuing dogs from kill shelters and set them up with fosters. These are not people with nothing else to do. These volunteers run their own businesses, work full time jobs and otherwise have very full lives. They are overwhelmed with the desire to help these helpless animals, especially after witnessing what I did. Again, that's what prompted me to set up this Fund.

I spent about four hours at the Center last week. They were celebrating St Patricks Day for the dogs and the volunteers brought an amazing amount of food and treats. Not just any food. It was the brand Just For Dogs, very high end. Actually human grade. The treats were just as nutritious. They were able to rescue four dogs that day since they had four fosters set up. That is just a fraction of the amount of dogs that are there, but they can't release dogs without having them set up to go somewhere. The dog posted is one of the great dogs they rescued. He is now living on a horse farm with amazing people. The dogs name is Hussle.

The amount we are asking for is not really that much for what we need to do, so if you have the resources, please contribute as much as you can. There are plenty of caring, animal-loving celebs that live in this area. Perhaps if they paid a visit to the Lancaster Animal Center, their eyes would be opened. I guarantee, they will overflow with tears.

Saturday night, while in the care of a foster, this sweet boy had an alarmingly high fever and was in extreme pain. We rushed him to the phenomenal team @truecareforpets where they immediately began treatment. He was given pain meds, had a CT scan that showed an excessive amount of fluid in his chest - usually the sign of a foreign object. The only option to save his life, was to open up his tiny body, top to bottom, and remove the object. What Dr. Soto and her team discovered was mind-blowing. The source of the raging infection and fluid was a whole POPSICLE STICK, 5.5 cm long !! Our sweet boy has only known a life of torture and neglect…. No one has fought for him, UNTIL NOW. We have a FIERCE VILLAGE ready to protect him at all costs. This intricate surgery was a huge undertaking that we were not prepared for. We rescue animals from the hell of Skid Row, Los Angeles. We are a boots on the ground, heads in the tent type of organization. Some of these animals are being abused in plain sight. They are heavily chained, starved, living in feces surrounded by flies, unable to escape. Most are in need of immediate intense medical care, training, fosters, supplies, transport …. Everything adds up quickly !! The only way we can continue saving these sweet souls and giving them the life they deserve, is with your support :)
