Special Olympics Connecticut, Inc.

 My son Jack Miner and a  couple athletes from the Colchester Special Olympics Golf team have been invited and have the rare opportunity to compete in the National Special Olympics golf competition in Tennessee this September. I am looking to raise the funds necessary to make this trip a reality.

As special Olympic athletes, Jack and his teammates work hard on golf skills, course rules, social interaction, and good sportsmanship.
I am fortunate to help volunteer and coach a great group of athletes.  It is amazing to see these athletes grow and succeed.
For a moment I'd like to be a dad and share a little about Jack.
Jacks primary challenge is autism. Special Olympics, especially the golf team, truly give Jack the opportunity to find a comfort zone and work on skills many of us take for granted.  Jack meets new people, competes and earns a sense of accomplishment. Jack also is learning to graciously shake hands with good sportsmanship congratulating other athletes when things did not go his way.   

Jack has earned several medals over the years. With the help of many coaches and teachers, Jack has grown his golf skills successfully earning gold medals in the competitions listed below:

2017 and 2018 regional competitions
2017 and 2018 Connecticut State championship
2017 and 2018 New England Championship

These competitions have all been local, easily accessible and the Colchester Special Olympics golf team, coaches and organizers successfully raise funds all year long to make these practices and competitions possible for our local athletes.  The national competition is a rare opportunity and falls outside the normal fundraising budget.  


It is personal to me because like other athletes, Jack has come so far and this is an outstanding growth opportunity in front of Jack.

With your help, I am looking to raise $2500 to help defray the cost for Jack.

As always, Keith Moon will be swimming in the Swimathon.  Help support Keith to reach his goal of $6,500.  All proceeds will benefit the Northwest CT Special Olympics Swimming Team and Special Olympics Connecticut.  Help make this goal in support of Keith and Special Olympics 50th Anniversary.

Charity Cycling Challenge is hosting their yearly cycling fundraiser to take place on April 7th.  The Bristol Special Olympics has formed a team who will ride in support of our local program.  This GoFundMe campaign has been set up so that our friends, family and generous supporters can make a donation.  An award will be given to the individual who raises the most funds, so please DESIGNATE in the comments section if you are donating for a specific rider.  

Our goal is to raise money for the Bristol Special Olympics Program and to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.  Money raised will be used to support our program which provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions.
