Help Us Give Dogs a Second Chance Through Training
Every year, wonderful dogs are adopted from the Blount County Animal Center—only to be returned days, or weeks later. Most often, It isn’t because they’re bad dogs. It’s because the dogs and their adopters often haven’t had the training or guidance they need to successfully introduce and adjust to a new home—and some dogs simply need extra training and support to thrive.
You can help us change that.
We’re raising funds to provide professional training and behavior support for dogs whose adopters are considering returning them because things aren’t working out as hoped. Sometimes the challenges involve other pets already in the home, separation anxiety from being left in a new place, or other behavioral issues. But with the right training, these dogs can overcome struggles like jumping, leash pulling, or anxiety—and finally become the happy, well‑mannered companions they were meant to be.
Last year, 68 dogs—about 8% of all the dogs we adopted out—were returned. Each professional training package costs $200. To make it possible for more dogs to stay in their homes, we cover half the cost—and the adopter pays the other half. Your gift directly helps us fund our share so more dogs get the second chance they deserve.

Bob the kitten (who answers to Bob-kitten) is a shelter kitten at Blount County Animal Center in Maryville, TN. He is bouncy and sweet, will sleep on anyone, and is a very good boy. Is he the best boy? Quite possibly.
