Smile Train Inc

This fund is in memory of Sheila Hendriks Doyle. One of her favorite charities was Smile Train. This charity funds surgeries for children born with cleft lips. This is one way we can remember her smile. All donations go directly to Smile Train. 

More information about Smile Train Inc: Many children with clefts around the world live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Our sustainable model provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.

The Association of Surgical Technologist will once again be celebrating National Surgical Technologist Week the end of September. As an organization we are supposed to give back to people in a manner that both educates others about what a surgical technologist does, at the same time bettering the life of another.

The Eastwick College surgical technology department has once again decided to conduct a Fundraising event consisting of a Walkathon on Wednesday September 22nd………

All proceeds obtained from the walkathon pledges and Mr. Eastwick matching those proceeds will be donated to the Smile Train……here is who they are……………….

The Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate

Millions of children with clefts around the world live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Through fundraising efforts, they provide free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care within their own communities. More than 85 countries are recipients of these efforts.

Additionally, they use the “teach a man to fish” model focusing on training local doctors to perform cleft repairs in their communities. Those doctors then go on to train other doctors creating a long-term, sustainable system.

Patients see their smile for the first time, parents cry tears of joy, lives and communities are changed forever.

Because of these efforts, Smile Train has transformed the lives of more than one million children by giving them the power of a smile.

Prior to the Pandemic September 2019 we raised funds for 16.5 SMILES, this year our goal is to raise enough funds for 25 or more SMILES ($6250.00, only $250 per surgery).

To date Eastwick College has raised over the years a GRAND TOTAL of 117 SMILES.

Every year we reinforce the importance of surgical technologists, the mission of Eastwick College, and The Smile Train's vision that EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO SMILE.
