For our rescue, medical costs for veterinary care are a constant. We do everything we can to make sure the healthcare needs of our cats are met from spaying and neutering, vaccinations and general wellness checkups to more expensive issues such as dentals, chronic disease management, surgical procedures and cancer treatment. Pink Nose Pete's Journey To A New Life

Pink Nose Pink (PNP) was living on the streets of Glendale when a kind couple discovered that he was very friendly and took him into their home to foster. They reached out to our organization for help listing him for adoption, which we were happy to do.

A couple of weeks ago, PNP was brought to a Petco adoption event to meet a nice couple who were interested in adopting him. Our volunteers noticed that PNP was shaking his head and holding his ears back. The vet at Petco took a look at him and treated his ears for mites and fungus. They also discovered that PNP had grade 4 dental disease and was in desperate need of a dental with extractions likely.

Before Pink Nose Pete could go to his forever home, we felt it was important to have his dental issues addressed. He underwent dental surgery at Alma School Animal Hospital on 6/5/2025. He had pretty severe dental decay with an abscess and broken teeth with root exposure. He ended up having a total of 13 teeth extracted. His dental X-rays are included below. His ears were also treated again. His bloodwork showed that he is an otherwise healthy 4-year-old cat and he tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Pink Nose Pete is now recovering from surgery in his second foster home where he is being given antibiotics, pain meds and love as he heals. His potential adopters are receiving updates on his progress as they are still interested in adopting him once he is healed!

We are so happy that the future is looking bright for PNP...from living on the streets to having his own forever home soon with a mouth that is not full of painful, decaying teeth. The total cost of his surgery and treatments was $1965.82. You can find the paid invoice below. My name is Kimberly Frost. I work with Save The Cats AZ and am the kitten featured above’s long-time foster mama!

Meet Betty (aka Bett Midler). Betty is the most precious, good-natured, affectionate kitty around. She is always found making biscuits on someone or lounging in a sunny spot. Miss Betty has had an ongoing eye infection in her left eye that has prevented her from finding her forever home -she has an excessive build up of scar tissue on her third eyelid-causing a blockage leaving her very susceptible to ongoing eye infections that will eventually damage her eye if not treated . We need help with partial payment in order to schedule her surgery.

We need your help! Sometimes it's not just about providing food, litter and medical care for our rescue cats. We also provide them shelter and a safe home at our sanctuary. Right now the sanctuary itself is in need. We have 2 125+ year old salt cedar trees very close to our sanctuary. These trees are huge, beautiful and provide shade for the sanctuary.

However, the trees also currently have broken branches that need to be professionally removed because they have cracked and are resting on our structure. They have also caused damage to our roof, fencing and support beams resulting in potential danger to the cats. With monsoon season upon us, unexpected storms can happen without much warning and include strong winds, which will further weaken the broken branches and increase the danger of them causing further damage to our structure, which could create areas where scared cats could escape or for the branches to fall through and potentially cause physical harm.

We need to raise funds to be able to pay professional trimmers to safely remove the branches and then hire help to make repairs to the sanctuary structure itself. Our dear Dougie needs another surgery. Some may remember that Dougie required an ear canal ablation surgery in 2021 due to recurring ear infections causing irreparable damage to his ear drum. With your help, we were able to provide this surgery and improve Dougie's quality of life. He has not had a painful ear infection since!

Now Dougie needs our help again. Over the past couple of months, Dougie has had trouble breathing due to congestion in his nose. He was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics, but Dougie continued to have trouble breathing, especially while sleeping when he snores very loudly. Dougie had an appointment with an ENT specialist veterinarian on 1/9/2023. Dougie has a polyp (possibly more than one) in the back of his throat that is causing difficulty breathing and affecting his ability to swallow properly. The procedure Dougie needs is a rhinoscopy, in which a scope is used to inspect the nasal passages and throat area. Any polyps found will be removed and tissue samples are taken for testing. The estimated cost of this procedure is $2700-2900. Can you help us provide Dougie with this procedure which will greatly improve his quality of life? Dougie is such a special boy with the most tender demeanor. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated!

Greta is a long-time resident of the Save the Cats Arizona sanctuary. She has become a feral-to-friendly success story coming to enjoy attention and pets from volunteers over the years. On March 1 of this year, Greta was taken to the vet for a general wellness exam and checkup. It was discovered that she had developed hyperthyroidism. Treatment with oral medication was tried for two months, but follow-up blood tests showed that the medication was not working, and her levels had worsened. The decision was made to have Greta evaluated by a specialist to see if she is eligible for radioactive iodine treatment of her thyroid, which is curative of this condition 90%+ of the time, requiring no further administration of meds after treatment.

Greta had a scan at Arizona Veterinary Oncology on May 12th. A benign nodule on her thyroid gland was detected, and the determination was made that Greta is a prime candidate for the treatment! This treatment comes at a high cost of $2000. We want to provide this treatment for Greta so that she can continue to live a healthy, happy life and no longer need twice-daily oral medication administered to her. Could you help us provide this treatment for Greta? Any amount is appreciated!

Sweet Dougie has been a resident of our sanctuary for several years. Throughout those years, he has been prone to developing ear infections, and has been treated for these infections many times. During his most recent vet visit for flushing and treatment of his left ear, the vet noticed that Dougie no longer has any eardrum remaining in his left ear. With no eardrum protection, there is nothing to prevent debris and bacteria from getting into his ear and causing problems and painful infections. It has been recommended that Dougie have a surgical procedure called Total Ear Canal Ablation with Bulla Osteotomy (TECA-BO.) This procedure would involve removing Dougie's left ear canal and cartilage. Things would then be sewn up and closed so that debris can no longer get into the ear and cause infection and pain. With his eardrum already missing, Dougie cannot hear out of this ear, so his hearing will not be compromised any more than it already is.

We have been researching surgery centers and getting estimates for the TECA-BO procedure. The procedure that will improve Dougie's overall quality of life and stop his left ear from becoming infected over and over again will cost at least $6000! Could you help us provide Dougie this surgery and bring him much needed relief from these painful ear infections? Dougie is a very sweet 8 year old boy and deserves the best we can give him for the rest of his years with us.
