Run4Fun empowers the mental health and wellness of young people for life through the healing power of running and play one stride at a time..
At PS 182X in Jamaica, Queens, we serve over 600 children during the school day, providing critical mental health and socio-emotional support through our evidence-based, trauma-informed curriculum built on running and play-based movement. Our program isn’t just an activity—it’s an intervention that has been proven to make a lasting impact.
PS 182X is one of the most under-resourced schools in New York City, with a student population that includes immigrant families, neurodivergent children, and unhoused youth—many of whom face extraordinary challenges in their daily lives. We work in direct collaboration with teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, ensuring that every child receives the structured movement, emotional regulation tools, and supportive community they need to thrive.
And our program works—so much so that after an evaluation, the principal told us that Run4Fun was the only intervention that truly made a difference for his students.
Why We Need Your Help
Despite the proven success of our trauma-informed, evidence-based curriculum, we are currently unable to return due to a lack of funding. For the past three months, these children have gone without this essential support—and time is running out to resume our programming before the school year ends.
The stakes are high. Without access to structured movement, trauma-informed mental health strategies, and positive peer interactions, these children miss out on the tools they need to manage stress, build resilience, and succeed in school and beyond.
For many unhoused youth and children facing instability, school is the only place where they feel safe, supported, and engaged. Run4Fun provides an opportunity for them to experience joy, consistency, and empowerment in a structured environment that prioritizes their well-being.
Your Support Can Make the Difference
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
✅ Supporting our expert trauma-informed youth development mentors
✅ Ensuring our return to PS 182X as soon as possible
This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a lifeline for these children.
