Sky drive - in memory of loved ones lost to lung cancer
Want to join me in making a difference? I’m Alex, and I’m turning 40 this summer! I want to make a difference, so I’m raising money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation by completing a 15,000 ft skydive.
This is in memory of my late mother-in-law, Denise Chaplin, and her brother, Melvyn Bexon, who we lost to lung cancer within three years of each other. Anyone who has lost a loved one to any cancer will understand the heartbreaking journey you go through… words cannot express the loss.
It was an honour to know Denise and Melvyn. With this in mind, I have booked a 15,000 ft skydive in Lancaster at the start of August 2026 (awaiting confirmation of the date from the company).
I want to raise as much money as possible for this lung cancer charity, and I don’t want to just raise money in memory of Denise and Melvyn, but for all your loved ones too. I’m asking anyone who has lost a loved one to lung cancer to get in touch so that I can add their name to the ‘In Memory Of’ list. You are more than welcome to send a photo of your loved one to be added to this page and our social media. Loved ones who have left us will not be forgotten. ❤️
You can support me by donating ANY amount. If everyone on my Facebook donated £1, I would have already raised £128! If each of my Facebook friends asked two people to donate £1, that would massively increase the total to £384. £1 can really go a long way!
Other ways you can help include sharing this on social media, talking about it with friends or family, or sending an email around your workplace (with permission, of course). The sky is the limit — quite literally in my case!
According to the NCBI, lung cancer kills more people than any other cancer. Its estimated cost to the UK NHS is £9,071 per patient per year, and the total cost to the UK economy is £2.4 billion — more than any other cancer. In my opinion, this is why supporting the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is so important.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause, which means so much to me.
