RNLI

I am trying to raise enough money to buy a new lifesaving hovercraft for the RNLI, and I would like it to be called 'The Flying Farage.'

I feel that this would be incredibly appropriate due to Mr Farage taking such an active interest in the RNLI's activities right now. If there is any money left over, we will purchase a pint of real English ale to smash against the front in the naming ceremony, and if there is loads of money left over we may even buy a second vessel and call it 'The Galloping Grimes' or 'The Hovering Hopkins.'

… or how about ‘The Rushing Ratcliffe?’ I’m pretty sure Sir Jim appreciates the concept of heading overseas in search of a better life.

Legal Note: All funds will be paid directly from GoFundMe to the RNLI - this is a 'fundraiser' and not a 'crowdfunder.' The final decision about whether or not to proceed with 'The Flying Farage' is entirely at their discretion.

As it stands (January 2026), all donations to ‘The Flying Farage’ are being ringfenced for running costs at RNLI stations around the South-East corner of England - this means that there’s always a very good chance that donations will go towards helping the very people that Farage and many other ruddy-faced gammons love screaming at in The Channel. 

This arrangement was confirmed again recently by my RNLI contact. However, if they ever change their mind about how these funds are used, I’ll let you all know.

This is a fundraising effort by New Forest Together Against the Far Right. We are raising funds for the RNLI.

The RNLI's stated aim is to “rescue anyone in trouble at sea, without judgement or preference.” They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in all weathers.

They do so selflessly, giving up their time freely, risking their lives in the process. More than 60 RNLI members have themselves made the ultimate sacrifice since the end of World War Two, while rescuing people from drowning.

In recent days, far-right extremists browbeat the Christchurch Residents Association into voting against making a donation to the RNLI. These people would rather see innocent women men and children drowned in the Channel rather than being brought to safety. This is cruelty beyond measure.

Channel crossings made up just 1.2% of RNLI rescues in 2024. By denying support to the RNLI, the far right is also effectively voting against saving thousands of other people in desperate need of being saved.

Even worse, these extremists are picketing RNLI headquarters in Poole, Dorset, hoping to intimidate its staff, affecting their morale and their life-saving work.

This thuggish extremism has gone on on far to long. We are hoping for enough donations to at least cover the sum which far right extremists prevented the Christchurch Residents Association from giving to the RNLI. Ideally, we would like to see thousands of pounds being raised to support its work.

All sums donated will go to the RNLI. Please support its work - while at the same time saying to the thugs: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

New Forest Together Against the Far Right

On the first weekend of August 2026, I’ll be riding 140 miles in memory of my dad, Dave.

This challenge is deeply personal. The RNLI, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), East Neuk First Responders — and the crew of the Reaper — worked tirelessly to give my family four precious days with Dad before he passed.

Those days meant everything to us.

This ride is my way of saying thank you — and of giving something back.

I’ll start at Kincardine, riding the length of the Fife coastline and visiting RNLI stations along the way:

South Queensferry

Kinghorn

Anstruther

Broughty Ferry

I’ll then finish at the SCAA base in Perth.

It’s a demanding route — long miles, technical sections, and endurance riding — but every mile will be for Dad.

These incredible organisations save lives every single day. They rely heavily on public donations to continue their vital work.

In March 2026, a group of friends and I are running the Reading half marathon and the majority of us have never run a half marathon before!

A few years ago our friendship group lost a member, David, who heartbreakingly drowned at sea. David was an incredible athlete that always pushed his body to the limit. So naturally, Dave has inspired us to go out of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves physically.

We have also decided to use this opportunity to raise money for the RNLI, who spent 10 days searching for him off the coast of Poole. The RNLI rely on donations to continue to do the great work they do and this is the perfect opportunity to show our appreciation for their tireless efforts in the search for David.

Hi, I am a bus driver commuting to work via paddle board. I travel 2 miles per day between Great Amwell and Ware on the River Lea. I aim to do it on average of 4 days per week from the start of November, till the end of February. that will result in doing a total of 137 miles. I work different shifts, so that means my earliest paddle will be 4am and the latest will be 8pm. and in all weathers too!

I've chosen the RNLI because i've always had a connection to the water in one way or another; I worked on cruise ships many years ago, and lived on a canal boat for a while.

The RNLI save people from absolutely all walks of life, when they find themselves at trouble at sea. There will be scary times on my early morning freezing commutes. But that is nothing compared to being lost out at sea with no sign of help round

It’s overdue that we support another charity as dear to Chip’s heart as he is to ours. Months ago I asked Chip to suggest a charity and he named the RNLI. A relative of his was a lifeboat volunteer in the past making this charity personally significant for Chip. I should have set this up sooner but here we are. We know he would hate Christmas cards so let’s donate to save lives at sea instead.

I’m taking on an Ironman 70.3 (7th of June'26) and a half marathon (17th May'26) to raise money for the RNLI — a charity that has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I’ve worked for the RNLI for 4 years, starting when I was 16, and I currently lifeguard on the beach. I see first-hand the difference the RNLI makes every single day — from preventing incidents before they happen to saving lives when things go wrong. It’s impossible to work on the beach and not appreciate just how vital this charity is.

The RNLI is also something I’ve grown up around. Both my dad and grandad served on the lifeboat, so supporting the RNLI isn’t just something I do for work — it’s something that’s always been part of my family and my values.

By pushing myself through these two endurance challenges, I’m hoping to give something back to a charity that does so much for others and relies heavily on donations to keep operating.

Johnathon started fundraising at the age of 5 taking on the mayday mile where he walked one mile on 1st May 2022.

Then when he was 6 he walked a mile every day in May.

When he was 7 he asked to walk to our local station in Hunstanton which was 42 miles. After initially being completely shocked and saying no way. We sat down looked into a route and thought right we can do this. So in 2024 we set off and he raised £3150.

At the age of 8 Johnathon met Mark Jarvis launch authority in Happisburgh who is a relation of his dad’s and after a visit to the Happisburgh station Johnathon asked if he could walk from Happisburgh to Hunstanton. So again we put a plan together and that is what he did 57 miles raising over £4000.

Johnathon has always loved the RNLI from being a toddler where yellow was his favourite colour and he got his first pair of RNLI welly boots. Then his was his interest in vehicles from the tractors pulling the boats, the all weather boats and his absolute favourite the hover craft. As he gets older he is learning more about his favourite charity he appreciates that they are saving lives and that they do this through volunteering. He aspires to become a hovercraft pilot.

Johnathon is now gearing up to do his 2026 challenge a marathon in a day.

I stupidly thought it would be a good idea to sign up for the New Year’s Day dip. I managed to convince my children and Donna into going for a freezing swim too! We are raising money to benefit RNLI. Living in Southend we have seen the fantastic work of the RNLI first hand.
