About Refuge Farms, Inc.

Refuge Farms operates with two missions: 1) The rescue of severely abused and neglected horses giving sanctuary to these "dier" horses - horses with significant physical or personality issues that cause even the other rescue organizations to deny them; re-homing the horses that can be done so safely and 2) Utilizing the sanctuary horses in structured horse handling training classes primarily intended for at-risk teens giving opportunity for establishment of self-esteem and positive self-image. In these missions is embedded the values of acceptance, tolerance, forgiveness, and respect. On December 31, 2019, at the close of our 19th year of healing, "dier" horses #1,671 and #1,672 were rescued and subsequently became members of The Sanctuary Herd.
