In March I am running my first half marathon in Brighton to raise money to benefit Parkinson's Disease Society of the United Kingdom, and any donation will help make an impact. My dad has benefitted so much from the work Parkinson’s UK do including setting up support groups for those affected with Parkinson’s to meet and be able to talk openly regarding their condition with people who are also going through similar experiences. This is also available for the carers also affected by loved ones living with the condition. Furthermore, in the early days of his diagnosis they really helped with signposting where my dad would be able to find the help that he needed and have nurses and advisors available to contact when he needs help. Parkinson’s UK also funds research projects so that the disease can be better understood. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this incredible cause that means so much to me.

Charlie, Grace & Maddie are running a 10k on March 1st in Cardiff. We’re raising money for Parkinson's Disease Society of the United Kingdom, and any donation will help make an impact. This is a charity close to our heart after losing our pap in May this year who suffered with the disease. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

My Father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease ten years ago, and to mark this and help raise awareness, I am planning a sponsored 10 mile walk on Saturday 4 April 2026.

I will be walking from my home to the rugby club that my family and I have attended every Saturday for 20 years. I have chosen to do this on a match day to help maximise awareness, as there are usually over 2,500 people in attendance. Bedford last April had a Parkinson's awareness match which involved them warming up in Parkinson's UK t-shirts. I have already been in contact with Bedford Blues to explore whether they may be able to support the walk and help spread the word about the fundraising effort.

April is Parkinson's awareness month so this is the perfect time to do the walk and hopefully raise some funds to continue the amazing work that Parkinsons UK already do, which I have seen first hand.

Hi my name is Maisey as I'm sure most people on here know.

What not everyone knows though, is my dad was diagnosed 10 years ago with Parkinson's Disease.

Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects the dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain called substantia nigra.

This causes motor (movement) and non-motor symptoms due to a lack of dopamine such as tremors, stiffness and slow movement that slowly worsens over time.

Every year I like to find a charity that means a lot and raise as much as I can and this year, I've decided to stay a little bit closer to home.

Now whilst a lot of people reading this may not work with me any donations you can make no matter how big or small will go so much further than you think! Especially as EVERYTHING I RAISE will be match funded!! So please anything you give will mean the world!

My grandad has suffered from Parkinson's disease for many years and suffers on a daily basis ,wether it's pain or stiffness, he has to rely on others to help him out with daily chores and I want to do something for him and the charity,so I'm running 50k throughout February .

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects movement and quality of life. It’s caused by the loss of nerve cells that produce dopamine—a vital chemical messenger in the brain that helps regulate mood, motivation, and pleasure.

Today, over 10 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s. Recent studies estimate that 11.77 million people were affected in 2021, and this number is expected to soar to 25 million by 2050. That’s an increase of more than 13 million people who will need support, care, and hope.

I’m running a marathon in just seven days to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK—a charity dedicated to research and support for those affected by this cruel disease. My inspiration is someone truly special who has lived with Parkinson’s for over a decade. This person is a wonderful, and caring, as well as my “human calculator,” helping me with my maths homework and always supporting me and my siblings.

I’ve never known them without Parkinson’s, and I wish they could have watched me play football and live a life without the limitations this disease brings.

Seeing firsthand how Parkinson’s affects not only those diagnosed, but also their families, has shown me how important the work of Parkinson’s UK really is. The charity funds vital research, campaigns for better care and treatments, and provides crucial support to people living with the condition and those who care for them.
