Neighbor the Nations

Neighbor the Nations is seeking to raise funds for an Afghan family of six who are resettling in Charlotte, NC, who have received the Special Immigration Visa (SIV). The SIV is for Afghans who worked with the US military and received a favorable recommendation. We are concealing their identities for their well-being, but this family includes a husband and a wife, three sons ages 18-21, and a 16-year-old daughter. If they had not received this permission to find permanent residence in the US, they would be in grave danger.

While we are glad that they are coming to the US and have found safety, it will take a lot of resources and energy to help them create a sustainable, secure, and self-sufficient life. We are seeking to raise $20,000 to help them relocate. There are a number of areas that we are looking to use this money on, with the biggest expense being housing. Their arrival was scheduled for 48 hours after learning that they would be admitted into the country, so our team had to secure safe temporary housing in a hurry. As we find them more permanent housing, we will also be helping them furnish their home in a cost-efficient but comfortable way. Also, the expenses revolving around food, clothing, transportation, and other basic life necessities will continue to add up.

One of our main goals is to help this family become self-sufficient both financially and culturally within the first few months of them being here. It is our priority to see this family shift from a sponsorship to a friendship. Many of you are familiar with my volunteer work with refugees in Charlotte who have fled from the Taliban. I have been actively involved since the first families were settled here in early 2022. Most refugees had to flee their home after the Taliban took over in August 2021 due to their work with the US military. Others fled due to religious persecution that put their lives at risk from the Taliban and, for some, their relatives.

Rusty and I have learned about Christian families in refugee centers in Pakistan who are vetted and able to come to the US with our sponsorship and we have the privilege of heading a team to bring this Christian refugee family to Charlotte. Two other teams are also working to bring two other Christian families to Charlotte as well. Our hope is to make a huge difference in the lives of these families and establish the beginning of a Christian community in Charlotte. Will you please help us by contributing to my GoFundMe? Hello my name is Kendall Phillips. Me and a group of 5 people have rallied together to help end a refugee family's wait in a refugee camp. The average wait for a refugee is 10-25 years. A refugee is someone who has had to flee from their home country because of war, violence or persecution. A refugee has been verified by the United Nations and also vetted by US Homeland Security. The US Government requires us to raise $2,425 per refugee. We applying for a Mother, Father and two children so we need to raise a minimum of $9,700. These funds will go towards helping the family:

First 3 months of groceries

Register the children for school, school supplies

Transportation for job and school

We are raising funds for two sisters who are refugees in Athens in Greece. They have lost their entire family and only have themselves because of their faith.
