About This Project2020 has been an extremely challenging year for each and every person across the globe. We have all had to learn to find new ways to communicate, to sustain ourselves, and to create meaning in our lives. The values cultivated at the Pre-Collegiate Program - curiosity, critical thought, empathy, and service - have never been more necessary among the students and alumni, friends and partners of the Pre-Collegiate Program to effect positive change in the world around them.
If you are an alumnus of the Pre-Collegiate Program, or a friend, a partner, a colleague, a teacher, or mentor of these remarkable people, as Dr. Kyaw Win Tun calls them, "thi-myin/myin-thi leaders and citizens who are reflective and critical in their social acts," please take the opportunity in these weeks leading up to festival of lights, to donate to this critical institution. We hope you will find this a fitting part of your celebration of love, charity, teaching, and transitions this season.

This year, the proceeds of the annual Tazaungdaing alumni fundraiser are all the more important, as they will provide greater security for our new director, Dr. Kyaw Win Tun, to realize his vision for PCP in the coming years. A highlight from his recent conversations:
"I want to conceptualize my educational philosophy using two Myanmar words: thi and myin. Thi means know and myin means see. If what one thi represents knowledge, what one myin represents experience. These two Myanmar words can be combined to form another single word – thi-myin, and its meaning connects knowledge and experience as a process. Thi-myin can be reversed to form one more word – myin-thi, and its meaning leads to interactive process of one’s knowledge and experience. My vision for the school is to nurture future, thi-myin/myin-thi leaders and citizens who are reflective and critical in their social acts."
Wherever they go, the world will need more of these students. Your donation in this season will help to provide security for continued operations of this unique program that ensures need-blind access to this program which is a valuable catalyst for growth in the country.
This fundraiser will end on the evening of December 31, 2020.

If you wanted to know more about PCP...The Pre-Collegiate Program was founded in 2003 to provide a unique learning opportunity to Myanmar students who knew that they wanted something more from their education. The school serves as a bridge across diverse groups in Myanmar and across the globe and encourages students to be independent, critical, and creative thinkers. Its graduates are uniquely situated to engage with the challenges and opportunities facing Myanmar in the coming years, and has created a generation of citizens intent on supporting the well-being of others.
Since its inception, the Pre-Collegiate Program of Yangon has admitted students based on the size of their potential and not their bank account. Myanmar students of all classes and creeds join us after they graduate from high school, learning to scrutinize their attitudes and examine their communities through on-campus courses and field trips throughout the country. We also help our students gain admission and scholarships to top liberal arts colleges in the USA and around the world so that they can learn to apply their own observations, evaluations, and empathy to create positive change in Myanmar.

Program Finance FAQsWhat is the impact value of my donation?
PCP graduates earn an average of $160,000 in scholarships over the course of their university educations. Alumni have founded companies, run for political office, written policy, and created art in ways that are building a new narrative for Myanmar.
What are P-CP’s financial projections for 2021? Expenses likely will be around $150,000 since our costs will remain the same. In terms of income, since P-CP is a "need-blind" program, we won't know until we've spoken with the families of admitted students what they are able to afford.
How much of P-CP’s spending is covered by revenue (tuition) and how much is donations? For 2018, 2019, and 2020 approximately 60% of PCPs operational budget is from tuition revenue and 40% is from donations.
How is the money spent?
