About This Project

2021 has been a deeply challenging year for the people of Myanmar. The values cultivated at the Pre-Collegiate Program - curiosity, critical thought, empathy, and service - have never been more necessary among the students and alumni, friends and partners of the Pre-Collegiate Program to effect positive change in the country and across the globe.

If you are an alumnus of the Pre-Collegiate Program, or if you are one of their friends, partners, colleagues, teachers, or mentors, please donate now to support the work of this critical institution. For two decades, the school has proven its value in creating citizens who can create a better world for those around them. Let's give the next generation that chance.

This fundraiser will close on November 18, 2021.

If you wanted to know more about PCP...

The Pre-Collegiate Program was founded in 2003 to provide a unique learning opportunity to Myanmar students who knew that they wanted something more from their education. The school serves as a bridge across diverse groups in Myanmar and across the globe and encourages students to be independent, incisive, and creative thinkers. Its graduates are uniquely situated to engage with the challenges and opportunities facing Myanmar in the coming years, a generation of citizens intent on supporting the well-being of others.

Since its inception, the Pre-Collegiate Program of Yangon has admitted students based on the size of their potential and not their bank account. Myanmar students of all classes and creeds join us after they graduate from high school, learning to examine their attitudes and understand their communities. We also help our students gain admission and scholarships to liberal arts colleges in the USA and around the world so that they can learn to apply their own observations, evaluations, and empathy to create positive change in Myanmar.

What are P-CP’s financial projections for 2022?

Expenses likely will be around $150,000 since our costs will remain the same. In terms of income, since P-CP is a "need-blind" program, we won't know until we've spoken with the families of admitted students what they are able to afford.

How much of P-CP’s spending is covered by revenue (tuition) and how much is donations?

For 2019, 2020, and 2021 approximately 50% of PCPs operational budget is from tuition revenue and 50% is from donations.
