About Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless

The Mercer Clinic is a not-for-profit organization operated exclusively by volunteer students enrolled in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis. The students, supervised by local volunteer veterinarians, provide free medical, surgical, and nutritional services for animals of the homeless population of the Sacramento, California area. These services are provided monthly on the premises of Loaves & Fishes, a not-for-profit provider of programs and advocacy for the homeless community in downtown Sacramento. One of the goals of the clinic is to aid in fight against pet overpopulation; thus, it is a requirement that all animals must be sterilized as a condition for ongoing treatment at the Mercer Clinic.
