Walking the SWCP for Médecins Sans Frontières Gaza Appeal
Hi All! I'm going to be walking the South West Coast Path, from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset, starting on my 23rd birthday 04/04/26. The path is 1014km long so I'm hoping to raise a pound per km for Médecins Sans Frontières' (MSF) essential work in Gaza.
The Appeal:
MSF is an independent emergency medical aid organisation who provide relief to the victims of war, natural disasters and epidemics in more than 70 countries across the world. The money raised here will be donated to their current Gaza Emergency Appeal, which will fund the MSF's work in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. As of December 2025, over 70,000 people have been killed in Gaza, including 15 MSF staff. Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to lay siege to the region - much of which has been destroyed by bombardment - restricting Palestinian’s access to food, shelter and basic sanitation. Gazans are completely reliant on aid organisations such as MSF for survival in these horrific conditions. If the target of £1014 is reached this could fund the work of an MSF surgeon for 12 days, or access to antibiotics for 150 people after surgery.
MSF’s current campaign is the 2025 appeal, which will receive all of the money donated here unless a new campaign for 2026 is launched, in which case it will be donated there. In the case that neither is possible, all the money will be donated to MSF’s general campaign. If you want to find out more about MSF UK you can do so here . If you want to find out more about their work in Gaza you can do so here .
The Walk:
This walk has been a goal of mine since moving from London back to Devon where I grew up. It's been a tumultuous year for me, as I know it has been for many graduates navigating the job market and big life changes, and after 6 months at home it's time for me to move away again. But, before I do, I want to experience the beautiful coastland of my home region all in one go! As a kid it was swimming, bodyboarding and sailing in Cornwall, in my teens I walked part of the path on the North Devon coast for DofE, and more recently I've enjoyed climbing on the island of Portland in Dorset. Tying all of these experiences together in this hike will mark the end of my time in the South West (at least for now), and will be a huge challenge which I look forward to! The walk should take me around 50 days to complete and I will be wild camping along the way.
Any donation would be much appreciated, even if you can only sponsor a kilometre (£1) of the hike. All funds will be donated to MSF’s lifesaving work as stated above. Also if you're free in April/May and would like to join me for a stretch of the path, get in touch!
Thanks all,
Grace :)
