About Mama Makeka House of Hope

Mama Makeka House of Hope (MMH Hope) is a Non-Profit Organization established in 2002 in memory of Mama Makeka Rebecca who died in the Democratic Republic of the Congo due to inadequate health care services. It is registered in California and acknowledged as 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization under US Federal laws. Mama Makeka House of Hope is also officially registered in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The goals and the objectives of MMH Hope are to promote, advocate, and provide financial and technical supports to initiatives related to peacenuilding, global health, education, leadership development, and community empowerment for the underserved communities in Africa mainly focusing in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The values that Mama Makeka House of Hope shares are Sharing Covenant Relationships, Integrity, Leadership, and Innovation. Consequently, each individual and institution participating through the Organization will make a special contribution that has an impact on those with whom Mama Makeka House of Hope will build relationships. Mama Makeka House of Hope is managed by a Board of Directors that has the power to manage the property, programs, affairs and business of the Organization, and any other functions which are permitted by the Articles of Incorporation of the Organization and these Bylaws. Board members receive no compensation other than reasonable expenses. The functions and powers of the Board include, but are not limited to the following: be the carrier of the vision for the Organization; define the philosophy, strategy, and aims of the general program of the Organization, to implement it in keeping with the Organization's purpose, and to review and approve it regularly; appoint the Executive Director; support financially the organization; and approve the annual budget necessary to carry out the goals of the Organization.
