Close friends of Josephine's mom, Kathy True, have decided to establish this gofundme page to honor the life of this valiant woman.

A truly devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt, would have been enough, but not for her. She went beyond. As a nurse she saved people, and as a dedicated volunteer, she saved her “pups”...those without a voice.

Josephine volunteered, fostered, and  gave her all to these animals, even after undergoing  intense chemo treatments, throughout her long battle with ovarian cancer.

Your donations will feed, give medical attention, and hopefully, if enough is raised, sponsor adoption fees in Jo’s name.

Rest In Peace, dear Josephine...we will do our best, in your absence, to continue your selfless quest. ❤️

More information about Louies Legacy Animal Rescue: Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue is a positive, professional 501c3 rescue organization that helps our community and shelter partners save more animals, more quickly by rescuing them, temporarily caring for them in our excellent, supportive foster homes and matching them with fantastic adopted pet parents.As one of the nation’s largest foster based animal rescue groups, with bases of operation in both Ohio and New York City, we cover a large section of the midwest and northeast. We place a high priority on the quality of care, including both medical and behavioral support, for all of our animals We also value and honor the contributions of the hundreds of wonderful people and organizations who support Louie’s Legacy in our lifesaving work.

Zorro was saved from a local shelter near Cincinnati, OH, after he had come in having been hit by a car.  He was surrendered by his owner who could barely take care of herself, much less a suffering dog.  He left the shelter with a foster, and Louie's Legacy agreed to take the case.

At our veterinarian, x-rays revealed that his leg was shattered and fragments were everywhere.  Because the owner had waited so long, it had already begun to heal, but not in a good way.  The bone fragments presented a long-term danger to his health and mobility, and ther was talk of amputation.  To save the leg, a 4-hour long surgery would be required to insert a rod, reassemble the bone fragments and wrap the entire thing in wire before closing his muscles and skin around it.

The cost to save Zorro's leg and save him from a life of pain and infections is $2,000, very generously discounted, because our veterinarian knows the work we do and supports us.  Still it is one of many financially crippling medical expenses we have had this season-- including Francis, Taco and many others.
