THE STORY:
The Aziz Jehan Begum Trust for the blind (https://ajbtrust.org) is a non-profit organization in Pakistan working to educate and support an underserved and marginalized community. With few resources and opportunities, these children have little hope of becoming independently functioning and productive individuals.
The Trust and affiliated institution which provides education to 120 students, and community support and advocacy to all individuals with visual impairment, has done remarkable work for this unseen community for 30 years.

This is the only school for the blind in Pakistan that provides education in English so that students can be competitive in a global community and have every advantage they can when measured against their sighted peers.



Among the many accomplishments of this organization in Pakistan are:
1. The first visually impaired person to enter the Foreign Service.
2. The first visually impaired person to be a judge.
3. A Fulbright scholar
4. 100% graduates move on to college.
5. First institution to print Braille books in English in Pakistan.
6. First institution to make white canes in Pakistan
7. First music band for visually impaired.
8. First Early childhood center to educate mothers of babies born with visual impairment.
9. Advocacy at the university level to enable visually impaired students to take exams.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FINISH THE AUDITORIUM:
The institute is striving to build a state of the art facility to support the education of these students and. The school and administrative buildings have been completed over the years with generous donations.

The auditorium, which is meant to provide students with a facility to further develop their confidence through performance, music, community gatherings and school events, is under construction. It is 65% done but costs are rising and the support of a generous global community is needed to complete this project.
Once completed it will be a place where students can gather without having to stand in the sweltering heat, freezing cold or rain during rehearsals, assemblies and other events.
