Healing The Children NJ

Please join HTCNJ in making a difference! We are sending a team of 19 medical volunteers to La Romana, DR October 11-18, 2025, on a pediatric ENT surgical mission. Led by Dr. Mike Tavill, the team will screen 300-400 children on Clinic Day and perform corrective surgeries during the weeklong mission. Serving as a mobile hospital, our volunteers travel with everything needed to outfit two operating rooms and sustain a full week of surgeries. We are raising money to offset the cost of medical supplies that we are unable to obtain from medical clearing houses.

I met Carlos in 2015 when i made him a pair of above the knee prostheses. To say he has excelled since then is a vast understatement. He walks at home and in the community unassisted and has become a competitive swimmer. He is doing this on prostheses that don't fit or function properly.

We have an opportunity to change his future with Healing The Children leadership. His host family has already raised thousands of dollars for the legs, Achilles Prosthetics will be donating all labor and fabrication costs, and Ossur has agreed to provide the componentry at a discount. This $5000 will allow Carlos to receive the prosthetics that will shepard him into adulthood and all allow him to function at his maximum potential. Please help get Carlos the legs he has earned!

Serving as a mobile hospital, our volunteers travel with everything needed to outfit two operating rooms and sustain a full week of surgeries.
