OverviewHi everyone! My name is Jackie and I am raising money for Handfuls of Hope, a non-profit organization whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty in the Dominican Republic. This summer, I will be spending two months in the Dominican Republic to help Handfuls of Hope start a sports ministry for children ages 12 and under. The sports ministry will specifically include a baseball and volleyball program and will be located in a rural community known as Catalina.
Given that many children in this area come from broken families and live in extreme poverty, our goal is to provide them with a safe, enjoyable environment where they will not only learn athletic skills but also important life lessons. The coaches will play a significant role in the children’s lives, including serving as mentors, sharing God’s love, and providing the children with guidance, support, and encouragement. In order to help make this sports ministry a success, I need your help...
How You Can HelpI am seeking donations on behalf of Handfuls of Hope that will be used to purchase equipment and uniforms for this sports ministry. Our current needs include baseball equipment (particularly gloves, bats, and baseballs), as well as baseball and volleyball uniforms. I would greatly appreciate any donation that you can contribute! All donations will go directly to Handfuls of Hope. Additional information about this organization can be found below or at www.handfulsofhope.org.
Additional Information on Handfuls of HopeHandfuls of Hope is a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in the Dominican Republic through education and the life-changing power that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. In particular, over the past eight years, Handfuls of Hope’s work has included the following:
Education: Handfuls of Hope operates a school for pre-K through ninth graders in the village of Catalina, where quality education and Christian values are combined to positively impact the lives of the students. The school has grown from 147 students in 2013 to over 450 students in the current schoolyear and has been ranked a top school in its district.
Mission Trips: Handfuls of Hope organizes and leads various short-term mission trips to the Dominican Republic each year, which includes running medical clinics, completing construction projects, distributing food and clothing, and visiting a children’s hospital and orphanage.
Isaiah 58 Ministry: Through this ministry, which was started in 2016 in partnership with Feed My Starving Children, Handfuls of Hope has distributed over 300,000 meals to people in need.
The
Sports Ministry will be Handfuls of Hope’s newest ministry and will serve as another way to share the gospel and provide hope to children in the Dominican Republic.
Thanks so much for your time and consideration!
Jackie
