Please join us in fundraising for GRIT Therapeutic Horsemanship’s summer project, building a covered grooming area for daily use by our horses, staff, students, and volunteers.
GRIT is a non-profit organization focused on helping both students with special needs and able-bodied, neurotypical students reach personalized goals through the means of therapeutic horsemanship. We teach individual lessons six days per week, and staff is present 24/7 to care for our herd of horses.
GRIT currently utilizes our pasture fencing and a small tie-post to hold our horses while our staff, students, and volunteers groom, tack, and provide care to our equine friends. Over time, our post has been pulled loose, and experienced wear and tear that has significantly affected it’s functional use. Our goal for this spring is to fundraise to build a more functional, sustainable, and safer area to work with horses.
A covered area for our horses not only provides an easy-to-clean, weatherproof area to work with them, but will save our students, staff, and animals from the summer sun while getting ready for and cooling down from riding.
Our new grooming area will bring convenience by minimizing trips to and from our barns for supplies that can be stored right next to our cross-ties.
This structure will promote safety for both people and horses by minimizing horse-to-horse contact and enabling a quick-release system for tied horses.
We will be able to share this shaded space with our hard-working veterinarian and farrier as well while they provide outstanding care for our animals.
All donations are welcome and much appreciated! We have attached a photo reference of a similar project we would like to build.
