A month ago, I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. Bell’s palsy occurs when the nerves in the face become temporarily paralysed and in my case it was caused by an ongoing ear infection.

This experience has affected my life in many ways. When your appearance changes, it can make you feel like a different person altogether. Bell’s palsy doesn’t just affect your facial appearance it impacts your overall health and can leave you physically unwell for a long period of time.

Without the support of others, it can be incredibly challenging and I am so grateful to have people around me who have supported and helped me through this journey.

To give back, I will be running the Cardiff 10K in support of this charity. All money raised will go towards helping children and adults living with Bell’s palsy. Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and can make a real difference.

23.2.2025 is the date that we will never forget, the date that our Stacey Teale a loving partner, mummy of Rufus, daughter, sister, auntie, godmother, amazing friend and hardworking colleague was unexpectedly taken from us all at just 40 years young. This still feels so surreal and so unfair. With the agreement of Matt, Louise Kearney and I have come up with the idea for a go fund me in memory of our beautiful friend. Matt has decided that the money will go to the Facial Palsy UK Ltd charity which Stacey played a big part in, it was so close to her heart and Matt agreed that Stacey would be made up with this idea.

Hi All, I hope that you are well! I am doing a 10k run at the end of this month. I am raising money for Compton Hospice/Care and for a charity towards research into Bells Palsy. Both charities mean a lot to me but specially want to raise money into research as I have been through Bells Palsy more than once most recently last year. For those who don’t know this condition causes facial paralysis very similar to a stroke. For some the paralysis is life long. To date they haven’t been able to find a prevention and treatment. It has had a big impact on me emotionally, physically and mentally and I hope that I can help those who have also felt and lived through the same experiences as me. I would be grateful for any support and donations ❤️
