Ezekiel's Story

Ezekiel was born with a rare chromosome abnormality, that left him battling several challenges throughout his life. After being diagnosed with epilepsy as an infant, hospitals and doctor visits very quickly became familiar places for him and his family.

But despite the difficult challenges he faced throughout his life, Zeke's tenacious and youthful spirit never faded.

He loved watching yellow school busses go by and dancing under Friday night lights with his high school cheer team. He loved camping at Jellystone and riding in his mom's jeep. But most of all, he loved his "Bear-Bear," and his mother, Lauralee, who devoted her life to be his caretaker. Zeke took his last breath in February of this year, but his legacy of love will live on forever.

This 5k race, in memory of Zeke, is raising money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado & Wyoming to help others just like Zeke and their families. But for those who do not wish to participate in the race, or who want to make a donation in addition to purchasing a race ticket, you can donate here! The event will occur on October 5th from 9am-11am at The Oval at Colorado State University.

Hello everyone! I'm Chevy, and in February 2019, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. Since then, I've dedicated myself to advocating for the 1-in-26 individuals affected by this disorder.

On May 19th, I'm taking on a portion of the Colfax Marathon (10 miles) to symbolize the half-decade journey of living with this disorder.

All the money raised will go towards the Foundation's incredible support groups, camps, walks, and various charity events; these events work endlessly to build a strong sense of community and foster connections among those impacted by the disorder.

Epilepsy goes beyond seizures; it includes fatigue, depression, anxiety, exhaustion, migraines, and a loss of confidence. Join me in making a difference and supporting the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado on this meaningful run!
