Please help Domino's Cat Rescue League raise the roof on Domino's House and keep the kitties who call it home safe and dry.

After last years storms hit Florida, Domino's Cat Rescue in Palm City, was left with substantial damage to the property and Domino's have gradually removed trees and replaced roofs on the Main House, Breezeway, Adoption Porch, Guest House, Kitten Room and Guest House Porch in 2025.

In addition to this, basic repairs have been carried out across the property in general but, now the "kitty" is out of funds and there is a desperate need for help to save the treasured original Domino's House building by giving it a new roof as well as making repairs to drywall and replacing electrical wiring so that the kitties calling it home will remain safe and dry.

These repairs are estimated to cost $ 12.000 but we have been warned that the cost might creep closer towards $ 20.000 depending on what they find once they start working.

If you know the story of Domino, you will know that Domino's Cat Rescue League aka Domino's House is a 501 (c)(3), founded in 2001 by Rita Maris Sine and the love of her life, Charlie Sine in Palm City, Florida.

Domino's mission is today as it was then, to rescue and rehome stray, abandoned, and surrendered cats and kittens.

As a no cage, no kill feline shelter, sanctuary, rescue and adoption facility, Domino's also provide a loving forever home for cats who for any reason are not adopted.

After more than 60 years of marriage, Rita lost Charlie in 2022, losing not only the love of her life but her rock and her partner in every way.

Domino's lost a treasured director and the "Mr. Fixit" who worked tirelessly when it came to maintenance.

Since then, Maris have battled lung cancer despite never smoking a day in her life, recovered from a broken hip and a fractured spine as well as 2 strokes, and throughout it all she has never given up.

Maris now runs Domino's along with her daughter Debra and a small staff and at 87, Maris is the glue that keeps Domino's together, the one who will sit up all night caring for a sick cat. Maris remains as dedicated to Domino's and the kitties today as she was 24 years ago.

Hi, I’m Debra and I’m raising funds to help with vetrinary bills for

Domino's House, (Domino's Cat Rescue League Inc), a no cage, no kill cat rescue, sanctuary and adoption center located in Palm City, Florida.

Founded by Charlie and Rita Maris Sine in 2001, Domino's has a long history as a rescue and in the local community through adoptions, spay/neuter advocacy and the caring for colony cats in the local area.

Unfortunately we lost our beloved Charlie in 2022, but at 87, after 2 strokes, a broken hip and a cancer diagnosis, our fearless leader Maris still fights as hard for the cats today as she did in 2001 and our passion and committment remain the same as we aim to ensure that every cat coming through the gate at Domino's will have a loving forever home

We will never turn a cat out or put a cat to sleep for not being adopted, our kitties are "Domino's Cats" from day one and that never changes, from the moment they arrive, they are loved on by our amazing staff and volunteers alike for the rest of their days.

As a 501(c)(3) that receives no government funding, it is only with your support, that we can continue to offer a safe and secure home here in Palm City for those of our kitties who have not yet found their forever home, providing sanctuary as well as rescue and adoption services for abandoned cats.

It is only with your help that we can continue to facilitate spay/neuter services as well as offering medical care and rehabilitation for injured and sick cats, adoptions, sanctuary and a lifetime safe haven at Domino's.

But the day to day operation of any charity will face challenges and in a time where costs are ever increasing, Domino's need your help.

This has been a year with unusually high vets fees for us, and having already paid out more than 10000 in vet fees, treatments, medications, medical diets and supplements, we are currently staring at a vet bill of $ 5805.45.

So this is where you come in.

We are asking for your help so that we may clear this $ 5805.45 hurdle and get the bill settled before it takes off and is added to by "regular" monthly vet/treatments/special diet and medications costs.

We are raising money to benefit Domino's House Cat Rescue League, Inc and this time your donations will go towards a sizeable vet bill and a cathouse roof.

Domino's House is a Martin County, FL 501 (c)(3) Non Profit organisation that has called Palm City, Florida home since 2001, when Maris and Charlie Sine opened their hearts and their home to rescue, care for, adopt and rehome cats and kittens.

Charlie and Maris started a TNR (trapping, neutering, and release) program for stray cats in the wild that has reduced the overpopulation of strays in Palm City, Stuart, and surrounding areas, with Maris also taking on the feeding of a cat colony in Stuart for the past 22 years.

All in all Charlie and Maris have helped hundreds if not thousands of cats and kittens live their best lives.

In 2022, after a 63-year marriage, Maris lost her beloved husband and partner "in time", Charlie.

Charlie was an instrumental part Dominos, he maintained home and office as well as the barn, the five cat houses and the five acres of grass on the property.

Losing Charlie was incredibly difficult for Maris, but she did not miss a beat when it came to caring for the cats that call Dominos home.

At now 87 years young, through Covid, personal loss, cancer, 2 strokes and a broken hip, Domino's fearless leader has kept going and she remains the inspiration of both staff and volunteers alike.

So why does Domino's now need your help?

Well, as a non-profit, Domino's depend entirely on donations and contributions from everyday people like us to keep going.

These all dwindled sharply during Covid and due to the current financial climate, charitable donations are no longer top of everyones list each month. Domino's know and understand that and with the help of a small group of dedicated volunteers as well as a small staff they do all they can to keep a roof over the kitties heads and food in their bowls, but with the numbers of cats to be fed and cared for standing at 50, and with minimum wages and with inflation biting us all, it is a struggle that has now become a call for help when they are faced with large or unexpected bills.

The costs are down after there has been a tightening of belts, but there are some unforseen expenses that you just cannot escape.

2025 has been a year with higher than average costs.

Domino's have paid out well over 10.000 so far this year in vets fees, for treatments, medications and supplements, and are now currently looking at a vet bill in the amount of $ 5805.45 for the kitties.

After the winter storms there was also damage to the buildings and on the property that went unseen for some time but ultimately required the replacement of the hot water heater for the rescue as well as a whole new roof for the guest/kitten house and the breezeway.

Add to that, the fact that they will now need to replace the roof on Domino's, the largest of the cat houses and have had no choice but to bring in the "treeguys" to deal with dangerous trees, it has been a challenging spring and early summer. In fact, another tree split and branch fell just last weekend, taking out part of the fence and narrowly missing one of the buildings. Luckily neither cats nor people were hurt when it fell.

But the joy that is found in every, recovery, every adoption and in seeing Domino's kitties thrive more than makes up for the more difficult times, as does the help and support of all Domino's friends, followers and donors.

Without you, small non profit 501(c)(3) rescues like Domino's, who do not receive government or have large corporate sponsors would soon face closing their doors.

A no-cage, no-kill 501(c)(3) shelter founded by Rita Maris Sine more than 20 years ago, Domino's has been a premier no-kill feline rescue adoption center and facilitator of spay/neutering in the local area in order to reduce feline overpopulation and homelessness.

Domino's mission always remained the same: to compassionately shelter, spay/neuter, and offer for adoption all cats and kittens rescued by or surrendered to us, and to provide a safe no-cage, no-kill haven for those difficult to adopt out due to medical issues, age, etc.

That mission is now in peril.

Over the past 3 years, Maris has known her share of heartbreak and struggles. She lost the love of her life, her husband of over 60 years and co-founder of Domino's. She has battled cancer and is in remission but still in treatment. She has broken her hip, fractured her spine, and suffered 2 strokes. But she has never quit, never given up. With her family at her side willing to work towards a future for Domino's, her priority still remains the same:

The cats come first!

Due to the financial climate and departure of sponsors, Domino's is facing closure.

Our 62 cats are facing homelessness.

The colony we care for is facing starvation.

Our small staff of 5 is facing unemployment.

We have food to last us for another month.

We have litter to last us for the same.

But the money will have run out by mid-January.

We will face the heartbreak that closure will bring. The heartbreak of our 62 cats who will face an uncertain future. Of our small but dedicated staff of 5 who will lose their jobs. Of our founder, Rita Maris Sine, who has dedicated more than 20 years to Domino's. Of all in the local community who look to Domino's for help and those who come to volunteer a few hours to visit with the cats.

Domino's Cat Rescue needs your help and we need it now.

Donations of food and litter are always welcome, but we need the funds to literally keep the lights on, pay the power bill, pay the medical bills, the taxes, the waste collection, pest control, and last but absolutely not least, to pay the wages of our people.
