Momma Chef's Soup Kitchen and Pantries

Dear Friends and Family,

In March 2021, I will be celebrating my Bat Mitzvah. For my Bat Mitzvah project, I want to help people in need by supporting Momma Chef's Soup Kitchen, and also by making care packages to hand out to homeless people.

Momma Chef's Soup Kitchen at Congregation K.I.N.S. serves underprivileged and under-resourced families once a week by providing healthy homemade dinners. This includes the elderly, unemployed, underemployed, poor, and homeless – women, men and children. These meals are free for the guests.

Every dollar you contribute is tax-deductible and will go to the soup kitchen to purchase the food ingredients and supplies.

I also am making small care packages of snacks and essentials to pass out to homeless people asking for help. For each donation of $18 to the soup kitchen, I will give you 2 care packages that you can hand out yourself. For donations $36 and greater, I will give you 2 additional care packages.

I am funding the care packages for you to handout. I have been making and handing out care packages for a couple of months and have realized how good it feels to help people in need. It puts a smile on their face and will put a smile on yours.

As most of you know, I am celebrating my Bat Mitzvah this year on November 16th, and as I think about what that special occasion means, I also think about helping people who are less fortunate than me.

The place that I chose to help others who are underprivileged is a soup kitchen on the north side of Chicago called “Momma Chef’s Kitchen”. This is located at Congregation K.I.N.S. and the goal of our group is to help feed the less fortunate members of the community including the unemployed, the elderly, and homeless men, women, and children. Momma Chef’s Kitchen feeds the hungry weekly on Tuesday evenings with a 6-course hot dinner and provides bagged lunches to-go, in a safe, clean, and an uplifting environment.

Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen provides free meals to its guests with compassionate volunteers donating their time and money and also cooking and serving hot food. Their mission is simple: to feed people in need regardless of their circumstances. This soup kitchen will provide healthy and nutritious meals to everyone who comes through their doors.

What’s more amazing is that EVERY dollar you contribute will be going directly towards the cost of the food, ingredients, and supplies on Tuesday, August 26th.

Sadly, not everyone who needs a meal has one. So it’s very important to me to provide Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen with enough funds to cover the cost of several nights of meals, which is a donation of $700 per night. With your assistance, I know I can make that happen. Any donation you make to my Bat Mitzvah Fund would mean a great deal to me and more importantly, will help feed all the people we will be serving at Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen.

This special place will provide meals and a bagged lunch on Tuesday evenings for people who are not as fortunate and can not afford food.

It is my goal to raise as much money as I can and to provide as many meals as possible with the money that I raise. In addition to raising money, I will be volunteering and handing out meals with my family. The more money I raise, the more people I can help.

This is a place that will provide free hot meals and a bagged lunch on Tuesday evenings for less fortunate people who cannot afford them and are hungry. I am going to sponsor as many nights at the soup kitchen as possible, in addition to volunteering my time to serve the meals.
