Hi! We’re Chloe and Ava, high school students who are organizing a backpack drive this summer to support kids at Community United, a local after-school program, and the schools nearby. Many of the families they serve need support to ensure they have backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year.

So, Ava and I decided to do a fundraiser in order to buy and fill backpacks with essentials like pencils, notebooks, and folders so every student can start the year feeling prepared and confident.

Any donation, big or small, will go directly toward giving these kids the tools they need to succeed. Each backpack with the supplies inside, is $75 dollars, so for every $75 that you are donating, that is a kid you are setting up for success.

Hello and thank you for visiting our annual fundraiser for Community United! This year we will be having two distribution events at the Starbird and Alma Youth Centers. We do have gifts from our partner Family Giving Tree but we have to sign up for these gifts in August so there are always new families or families we weren't able to reach at that time. We love being able to say YES to these families and you make that possible! We usually buy gifts in the $35-$40 range per child. Any additional funds raised will be going towards our Literacy Program being held at Starbird Youth Center. We had a very successful program last year partnering with San Jose State University and the Starbird Youth Center and local schools. Hi! Stephanie, Erin and Donna here! Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Community United! Our goal has always been to meet the community's needs. In that spirit, we met with the city staff running the Starbird Youth center and the local elementary school and found out their current needs. The center needs help with basics like getting water for the youth to drink and fixing the wifi so they can access their homework. In addition, they would like a literacy program done for the youth not up to grade-level reading. While our partnership with Family Giving Tree has always been amazing for serving the community, they have also been impacted by funding loss, and due to this, we are receiving fewer gifts. We are doing this fundraiser to bridge the gap and meet the needs of our local centers and elementary schools. We have also received positive feedback on the groceries we delivered through the pandemic and would like to provide each family that is receiving gifts this year with a holiday meal in a bag.
