Seeds of Sovereignty: Supporting Indigenous Farmers in Rural Bolivia
For over 30 years, Emigdio Ballon — a Quechua agronomist, traditional seed keeper, and advocate for Indigenous food sovereignty — has dedicated his life to preserving ancestral farming knowledge.
Born in the highlands of Bolivia and now a global voice for seed justice, Emigdio is returning to his roots to support small rural villages in Bolivia where traditional crops and farming practices are disappearing.
With your help, we will help Emigdio:
Build community seed banks for native crops
Provide training in sustainable, traditional farming
Restore food sovereignty for Indigenous families
We are raising $35,000 to support this work directly in Emigdio’s home villages. Every dollar goes toward education, educational supplies such as seeds and tools, and Indigenous-led resilience.
Fiscal sponsorship provided by Community Learning Network (CLN) — a nonprofit supporting grassroots education and community sustainability, with respect for and incorporation of Indigenous wisdom and life-ways.
