Center for Food Action in NJ

Currently, in Bergen County, residents face not having enough food to feed themselves and their families, including children and seniors. As more and more residents lose jobs/wages & schools stay closed due to COVID, the problem of hunger will keep getting worse.

I am fortunate enough to be able to eat at every meal of the day. I decided to contribute to my community,  by starting a GoFundMe for the Center for Food Action (CFA) where I have volunteered before. I would like to help feed those in need. This project is also perfect to give back to my community and perform a mitzvah for my Bat Mitzvah project. A mitzvah is a good deed.

Please contribute what you can to help CFA meet the increased need for food. 

For every donation, I will send you a shibori tanktop, t-shirt, or table runner made by me. Shibori is a Japanese tie-dye technique using indigo dye. 100% of your donation will go to the CFA, an organization that provides emergency services to northern New Jersey’s poorest and most vulnerable residents. CFA provides food, housing, utility, and heating assistance and offers counseling and advocacy services to low-income individuals and families.

Hi! Our names are Connor and Farrell Kehm and we have been thinking recently about the detrimental effects of the COVID-19 crisis in our community. As cross country runners and athletes who run and workout daily, we thought we could use our workouts to help others in need. If you and your family are looking for a reason to get up and get out please help us with our cause! Join us as we raise money for families struggling to make ends meet in our community.

We are asking everyone in our community to pledge $5 for every mile you run/walk/bike during the entire week of May 10th through 16th. Whether it is your daily run, a family walk, or a social distanced stroll with friends - every step counts! If you would rather make a blanket donation while doing other types of exercising that works too! All proceeds donated to our GoFundMe will be given to the Center For Food Action located here in Bergen County. 

The CFA provides emergency food packages and homelessness prevention assistance to local low-income individuals and families. Founded in 1976, CFA is a non-profit organization that provides emergency services to northern New Jersey's poorest and most vulnerable residents in over 100 towns. CFA provides food, housing, utility, and heating assistance and offers counseling and advocacy services to low-income individuals and families.

HANNAH'S MITZVAH PROJECT

Hi!  My name is Hannah and as I prepare for my Bat Mitzvah in late March I will be working on a Mitzvah project.  Mitzvah means "good deed" and  I have decided to work with the Center for Food Action (CFA) for my project.  This organization lends a lot of support to people in my community who need financial assistance.  CFA has many programs.  The program I have chosen is called Weekend Snack Packs.  These are food packs which are sent home from school with children who may not have enough to eat over the weekend.  I am happy that it will directly benefit children in my area.

There are a couple of parts to my project.  The first is to raise money to purchase the food which will go into the snack packs.  I am doing that through this page AND by baking and setting up sales of the pastries in my town.  

The second part of my project will be the assembly of the snack packs.  This will happen on the day of my Bat Mitzvah .  I am going to dedicate time at my party to work with my family and friends to get this done.

$2,250 will allow me to buy the supplies for 500 snack packs (they are $4.50/each).  Your online contribution will go directly to CFA and I will purchase the supplies from them.
