Bella's Hope Foundation Inc

I have never met someone in my life who was always so full of joy, energy, and love as Bella "Hope" Patterson. Bella was truly the best cousin one could ever ask for, always bringing a light that brightened every room, whether it was through her contagious laugh, her never-ending jokes, or the way she could turn any given moment into a forever-lasting memory. Bella lived each and every day with the attitude of a winner, never letting anything or anyone ever get her down. Bella was also the kindest human being in the world, always wanting the best for everyone around her.

Unfortunately, this year Bella lost her 6-year battle with brain cancer at the age of 16. No matter what Bella was going through, her smile and energy never faded. She truly showed the world how we should live each and every day, no matter what.

Recently, our family has started Bella's Hope Foundation in order to continue Bella's legacy and everything she stood for. The foundation carries forward her spirit through acts of kindness, big and small. When random acts of kindness happen, they may seem small in the moment, but they ripple outward, breaking through the chaos to spark light, inspire connection, and show that compassion still has power. One kind act can shift a day, change a life, or even restore someone’s belief in good, just as Bella did every day of her life.

On October 12th, I’ll be running the Newport Half Marathon in Bella’s honor. This run is a way to celebrate her life, her spirit, and the joy and inspiration she brought to everyone around her. Because music was such an important part of Bella’s life, and to carry a piece of her, and all of you who support her charity on this run, I’d love for you to choose a song for my running playlist. This foundation was created in loving memory of Gabriella "Bella" Hope Patterson who ended her 6-year battle with cancer at the age of 16.

Through all of Bella’s challenges, she always found ways to carry that message forward, to turn hope into action, and to light up any room with her contagious spirit and kindness.

Through Bella’s journey, she encountered individuals and strangers whose random acts of kindness moved her and motivated her to do the same for others.

What We Do

When random acts of kindness happen, they may seem small in the moment, but they ripple outward, breaking through the chaos to spark light, inspire connection, and prove that compassion still has power. One kind act can shift a day, change a life, or even restore someone’s belief in good.

Bella’s Hope Foundation looks for individuals who have demonstrated these acts of kindness and in return provides scholarships and grants for their selfless acts.
