Because People Matter

Help us provide a beautiful Thanksgiving meal this year to 150 BTown Kid Families! Whether it is donating to create a full Thanksgiving meal, giving to one of our Thanksgiving bundles, or donating what you can give, we greatly appreciate your donations to help feed the families of the kids from our BTown Kids program. Our mission is "Loving People Because People Matter," and what a fitting mission it is to be giving during this year of 2020.  However much that you can give during this difficult time, we thank you for your donation and helping families in our community sit together and have a Thanksgiving meal.

More information about Because People Matter: Because People Matter exists to serve those at the margins of society, both the houseless population, as well as youth and families through programs such as Night Strike, BTown Kids and Transformation Trips. Our programs serve 20,000+ recipients, and mobilizes 10,000+ volunteers annually to provide food, shoes, clothing, haircuts, foot washing, mobile medical & dental clinic, resource and veteran services, to build community and strengthen capacity within low income neighborhoods.

My story is one of redemption and transformation.  Over the last year, I went from homeless and addicted to opiates on the streets of Portland to life full of love, compassion and service.  Through the darkest depths of addiction and isolation, I found a new way to live in community and service to others.  October 1st this year I celebrated one year of sobriety and graduated from a year long treatment program.  Over this last year I have been volunteering with Because People Matter (www.bpmpdx.org) here in Portland.  Through the work that this amazing organization does, I found the value of humility and the joy of service to others.  I am seeking funds to continue this work with BPM over the next year through an internship.  All funds raised are 100% tax deductible and payable to our 501c3.
