Want to save someone’s life?   Let’s turn this negative Cancer journey into something positive. I was diagnosed with Leukemia in January.  This after battling Stage 3C breast cancer in 2019.  Leukemia is a much scarier beast however.  Because of a rare gene mutation, a stem cell transplant is my only hope of survival.  I do not have siblings to donate stem cells so Be The Match steps in to build a database from which my donor can hopefully be found.  Most folks don’t even know this organization or desperate need exists.  To get into the database, it’s a simple cotton swab and if you match with someone, it’s similar to giving blood. WHO KNEW???  I didn’t.  

For many who cannot give stem cells, please consider contributing money in my name.  The medical advances to help cure Leukemia is rapidly changing.  A few years ago, my rare gene mutation would have been a death sentence.  Not anymore!!!!  All funds raised will go directly to Be The Match.

This year Anna's 8-year-old cousin, Ava, was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia, a rare bone marrow failure syndrome, causing a compromised immune system and inability to produce blood cells. After many months of doctor visits, hospital stays, and blood transfusions, Ava received a successful bone marrow transplant on July 1 and is recovering well. 

Ava received her life-changing transplant due to her generous matched donor, found through Be The Match, a global leader in bone marrow transplantation. Be The Match connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving bone marrow transplant.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you can help other patients like Ava get connected to bone marrow donors, help with costs of transplant that aren't covered by insurance, and fund innovative research that improves transplant outcomes. Hello!! So while we’re all in quarantine I’ve decided to shave my head to raise money for Be The Match and honor my mom who will soon have her last round of chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant. I would love it if some of y’all could support her and those in need of bone marrow by donating to Be The Match. Luckily, her sister is a match for her transplant, but many others have not been as lucky and are still in need. Any amount is appreciated and even if you’re unable to donate please still consider getting swabbed and entering the registry! As my 30th birthday closes in, I can't help but remember a dear friend that didn't get to make it this far. Sarah Menoni lost her battle with cancer just a few months shy of her 30th birthday. So this year, the year she couldn't have, I am pledging to honor Sarah by running 1000 miles in her memory from 8/25/14 to 8/24/15.

Please help me reach my goal of $2000 ($2 per mile) to benefit the Be The Match Foundation. Be The Match helps blood cancer patients receive the lifesaving transplants they need while supporting medical research.
