A big hello to our supporters and fellow animal lovers!
We’re reaching out with hopeful spirits to ask for your help to give three cats the happy and healthy lives they deserve. We’re raising $3,000 to provide urgent dental surgery for our beloved cats—Moustache, Angie, and Bella—who are all suffering from a painful and debilitating condition called stomatitis. This amount will go toward the cost of full dental extractions and necessary follow-up care for all three cats.
What is stomatitis?
Feline stomatitis is a severe, chronic inflammation of the mouth and gums. It’s an autoimmune condition where the immune system overreacts to the presence of plaque on the teeth, causing intense pain, swelling, and infection. For cats with stomatitis, eating becomes difficult, grooming is painful, and their quality of life rapidly declines.
Right now, all three cats have severely inflamed and infected gums, along with worsening respiratory issues. The infection has likely spread beyond their mouths—diseased teeth and oral infections can lead to serious systemic complications, affecting the heart, kidneys, and other organs. Without treatment, these infections can be life-threatening.
The recommended and most effective treatment is full-mouth dental extraction. Though it sounds extreme, removing the source of inflammation gives these cats a real chance at living pain-free, healthy lives.
A little about the trio:
Moustache is a quiet old soul who loves exploring the house for the best sun spots. His sniffles and difficulty chewing break our hearts, and we can't wait to see him basking pain-free and breathing easy in the sun!
Angie is a strong lady who doesn't complain, but we know she'd love to play and roam the house if she felt better. Curious about other cats and volunteers, she keeps mainly to herself and takes in the action from a distance; let's get her the care she needs to feel confident and energized enough to play with her friends!
Little Bella is our tiny senior torty, currently in foster care to help give her extra attention. At 11 years old, Bella just wants to snuggle up on a warm lap and trade purrs for scratches. This sweet girl is already so grateful for the care she's been given, let's help her become the cuddlebug she was meant to be.
These cats have brought so much joy and love, and now they need our help to heal. The estimate from the vet for all three dental procedures and recovery care is about $3,000. Every single dollar will go directly to their veterinary expenses.
If you're able to contribute, we are deeply grateful. If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser means the world, too.
Thank you so much for helping us give Moustache, Angie, and Bella the chance to live without pain.
With gratitude,
The Astoria Cat Rescue Cats and Volunteers
