Beating the Reaper: 8 Miles for Heart Health
In May 2026, I’ll be competing in the Carolina Reaper ️ Road Race. A 28-mile inline skating marathon in honor of my dad, who passed away at 55 from a heart attack. May was his birthday month — he would have been 63 — and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate his adventurous, fun-loving spirit than by pushing myself in this race.
Over the past year, I’ve been working hard on my own heart health, and now I want to help others do the same. My goal isn’t anything crazy — just to finish the race (hopefully under 3:30!) and raise money for the American Heart Association to support heart health awareness and research.
