We believe that education leads to economic development and social progress for individuals, their communities, and ultimately OUR world. Through Aavishkaar USA, we invite you to support the education and careers of those in underserved communities in India.

We have been busy changing how math and science are taught in schools. Thousands of training hours mentor teachers and teachers have impacted over 300,000 students and 10,000 teachers. Some of the programs to create this impact include:

Women Math Educators Program - This program educates, equips, and enables marginalized women to become excellent math educators! It includes a residential and online program to connect with more than 1,300 women.

Teacher STEM Fellowship Program - This program specifically works with in-service teachers on a long-term basis to strengthen conceptual knowledge, teaching practices, and mindset to improve student achievement! The program includes camps for teachers, one-on-one engagement for co-planning, and co-teaching in the classroom throughout the fellowship. This program is conducted in partnership with grassroot organizations and state governments.

Student Leadership in STEM - In collaboration organizations, we run programs to improve the confidence of students approaching STEM subjects and promote STEM in their schools. We also conduct several residential camps throughout the year for students to create this change.

Sarit and Sadhya have long had a vision of expanding their outreach and providing a larger scope of opportunities for underserved communities in India, including more areas of Bihar, Punjab, and other economically and educationally disadvantaged rural communities. Recently they were surprised to receive a very generous corporate donation as seed money to do just this.

 

Because of the expanded outreach, we are now transitioning from Nari Gunjan to Aavishkaar USA as we continue to seek your support and update you on the needs and successes of the individuals and communities we serve.

 

While this large donation provides the seeds, remember that the girls, women, and underserved communities in India still need rain, sunshine, and fertilizer on an ongoing basis to grow to their full potential. That’s where each of us can continue to support Sandhya and Sarit’s efforts to make the world a better place for all!

 

Aavishkaar will continue to support Nari Gunjan girls and women, and will also be able to assist other organizations with the aim of providing educational opportunities that lead to economic stability for Dalits and others.
