Cancer robs a family of a single mom in 7 days

Imagine you wake up on Easter weekend, get ready and go to work when all of a sudden you don't feel so well. You brush it off – 'oh, it must be the flu coming on.' The only problem is you just can't shake it. You have some good days and you have some not so good days. You call a friend. The friend tells you to go and get it checked out. Eventually you give in and see the Doctor. The doc give you some tests and then some more test and a few more. You wait. You wait some more when finally the results come in. Yet, wait! Do you really want to hear what is happening? Your friend comes with you to get the results.

The Doctor tells you and your friend that you have Stage 4 terminal liver cancer. 'Wait, what!?' She continues to tell you that you have roughly 2 to 8 weeks to live. You go home. You...you  can't even process what you have been told. You gather your children and family and tell them the news on June 5th. Over the course of the next seven days you deteriorate almost over night. You can't speak. You can't do anything for yourself. On June 12th at 4:04 am you are pronounced deceased.

This a true story. It happened to Kristi Davis from London, Ontario. She was 48 years young. She was a single mom to four beautiful children who are left without a mother. It all happened so fast that even as I write this, it is still so surreal.

Kristi was beautiful and feisty. She was a good friend. She had a contagious smile and laugh. There was no bullshit when she was around. She called you out on everything. She was a sister, an aunt and a daughter.

She could have been YOU. This could have happened to anyone of us.

They say it takes a village to raise a family. I am now asking the village to help, not raise her children, yet – help them monetarily.

We need to raise some money for these children. Eve, Natas, Ada and Mia well, their lives go on even as children. They go back to school in September and Natas will be starting a new adventure on his own. This December they will celebrate their first Christmas without their mom with them. The first six months after a loved one passes is the hardest. We would like to see these children feel comfortable during that time. We don't want them to worry.

Who is getting the money? I know you are wondering and that is okay! Transparency is everything. The money is directly going to the oldest daughter, Eve. What can I say about Eve? ...Eve is a beautiful, responsible and a mature young woman who is taking the younger children under her wing. You can count your bottom dollar that she will make sure that they are all well taken care of. Her bravery would make you immediately want to compliment her mom, Kristi, which I am going to do now. 'Kristi, you really did a fantastic job raising those children.'

Thank you in advance for reading this and thank you for giving. It is absolutely true that every little bit counts.
