Rebuild Camp Grimes Dining Hall

At 6:30 pm on November 13, our iconic and beloved Belk Dining Hall at Camp Grimes was destroyed by a fire. We are grateful to our Ranger, his family, and local fire departments who prevented this fire from spreading to adjoining buildings and other parts of Camp Grimes.
While the fire is still under investigation, we have formed a sub-committee, to begin the rebuilding process. While we are saddened about the loss of memorabilia and artifacts going back over 40 years, we are confident that we can continue the legacy of Camp Grimes and build a facility that will serve many future generations of young people and create even more lasting memories.
Camp Grimes has played an important part in the lives of many young people in our community. Memories made at camp last a lifetime. We have a passionate alumni base that want to help.
Our premlimanary studies indicate that it will cost $3.5 to $4.5 million dollars to build a facility to today's standards. We estimate over $1 million in insurance payments leaving a substantial gap that will be raised in our Charlotte Mecklenburg community and Scouting supporters. We have set an initial goal of $500,000 to jump start the efforts. This will help us with the site cleanup and other immediate needs.
