Moose Montana and Family Camp Fire TLC

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 when the horrific Camp Fire began Megan got home to their furr babies but had to leave quickly with the explosions booming all around the house. We escaped Paradise. When  leaving town I drove the wrong way to get out of Paradise; west in the eastbound lane of Skyway, everything was burning on both sides of the Skyway, the Welcome to Paradise sign was in flames and almost gone, I knew then we wouldn’t have a home to return to. Three long days later, Sunday, November 11th on Glenn’s birthday, we were sent a video of where our little home used to be. We now had confirmation our home and all our beloved, cherished memories were gone, nothing but ash. I can attempt to begin the closure process, although over five months later, this still doesn’t feel real. 

"That night" Moose Montana was evacuated from Valley Oak to a vet in Anderson, and our two cats Beasley and Nubbins a few days later to a shelter in Chico. We were all separated for almost 8 weeks, although we were all safe. During this time Moose, most likely as a result of extreme stress, developed A LOT of mast cell spots, in January he had surgery to remove 17 different spots.  

As far as needs, this is a new journey for all of us, so I am extremely grateful and humbled for anything. It’s overwhelming knowing we are literally starting over and have to rebuild our lifetime of cherished belongings and memories. Thank you for your generosity and compassion during this incredibly challenging time. We have a long and extremely tough road ahead of us, but with the support and help from friends, family, and even complete strangers reaching out, we will rise from the ashes.
