Community support for Cafe Berlin

Donation protected
As you are probably aware, Cafe Berlin was attacked sometime after closing on January 14 and before opening on January 15. Since the violation, the Cafe Berlin crew has been working around the clock to get Columbia's beloved community space back up and running. That said - they're tired. The Cafe Berlin crew needs a day off to process what happened and breathe.

Can we come together as a community and provide funds to give them that day off?
Owner Eli Gay estimates that $3,000 could pay the staff for a day off and cover what the income would be for a weekday. (I'm going to set the campaign goal for $3,500 to cover GoFundMe fees and processing charges).

Note from Eli:
"Everyone's been so supportive and asking what they can do to help; with offers of benefit shows, coming in to help clean, repairing stuff, lending sound equipment etc. and it's hard to know how to accept people's assistance.

The feeling of being so supported by our community when we needed is an indescribable feeling and we are stronger for it, but now that the dust is settling and we're coming down from the stress/response from getting everything back up and running we're all a bit tired and dealing with the trauma of having our space violated by those that did this to us.

We've had people staying here overnight and I think some of us are dealing better than others with the violation of our space. We're wanting to keep making great food but I think we're all a little scared, sad and some of us havent been sleeping at all….

If we need anything, we'd like a day off…. to do some processing and just to breathe together and take some self care time. I know that sounds maybe a little counterintuitive to running a restaurant…"

^ And that sounds just like the kind of restaurant all of us know and love. Let's come together for Cafe Berlin. Every little bit counts.

Oh - and they're also accepting coffee mug donations. ;)
