You may have first met, Jeffrey, and his mother, Madeleine, in the now viral video where she surprised him after spending 10 years apart. The video has captivated millions of people around the world. If you would like to help this loving family stay together forever, please read on below.
Jeffrey is a 1st generation American citizen who spent most of his childhood back and forth between Libreville, Gabon and Paris, France. He always took pride in being American and came back to the USA after high school to pursue his basketball career in hopes of making a better life for his family, but it didn’t work out. Jeffrey and his girlfriend Shannon met and fell in love at first sight. They had their son, Christian, November, 2015. He is Madeleine’s first born grandchild.
Back in Gabon, Madeleine takes a taxi to and from work 6 days/week to make a living, and lives amongst crime in the third world country. Her dream has always been to become an American citizen. Jeffrey’s brother, Axel, recently got a visa in place for mom and made a surprise visit. It had been 4 years since Axel and Jeff had seen each other and 10 years since Jeffrey last saw his mom! They never expected the video, capturing that tender moment, would go viral. We’re all very touched by the outpouring of love we received.
Mom and brother Axel slept on the couches in small 2 bedroom apartment during their visit. Their long term goal is to buy a home big enough to accommodate mom where she'll have her own quarters.
In order to fulfill their dreams of buying a home, bringing mom permanently to the US, they ask anyone that has been touched by the video to please help and donate. The Mayi family deeply thanks all of you for your heartfelt comments and support. God bless you and yours.
