In 2010 we welcomed our fourth biological child to the family! A sweet and precious baby girl, Zoey Grace. Zoey was born with down syndrome, as well as a congenital heart defect. The early days were challenging. At a few days shy of three months old, Zoey had open heart surgery to repair her heart defects. There were moments of fear, but by the time she reached her first birthday her health was good and we had come to the realization that down syndrome isn't scary - it's amazing!
I (mom) began using the phrase "it's a bella zoey" ... it's a beautiful life!
Zoey has opened so many hearts and minds in her six years, seeing life through her eyes is truly a gift! We have often felt drawn to children who have down syndrome and need a forever family. Adoption was a dream and a hope!
... and now it's a reality!!!
In November I was looking at Reeces Rainbow, in the hopes of finding a child to sponsor for the Christmas season. Then it happened, I came to a photo of a little girl that stopped me in my tracks. I can only compare it to how love at first sight must be ... an instant connection. I read about her and I began to pray.
Within a week everyone was falling in love with this sweet little girl. We knew she was meant to be a part of our family!
The day after Christmas we got the most amazing news! We are pre-approved ... this means we can move forward in the adoption process ... we can work toward bringing our little girl home!
"Little Sister" is four years old! She has down syndrome and also has a congenital heart defect (no surgery yet). We are eager to get her home!
We've had several people ask where they can donate, so we came here to set up a place for just that purpose!
The expenses to adopt are grand. There are legal fees, agency fees, documents to order, important paperwork to mail, flights, hotel ... the list feels endless. These are just some of the expenses that any money raised will go toward!
Every person who donates will be a part of our story, a part of bringing our daughter home ... for that we can not thank you enough! We are eternally grateful to you all for the love & support!
