Bluebird Hill Farm GIFT

Hello there! Thanks for visiting our page. Our MISSION is to raise enough funds to pay off the mortgage of a North Carolina woman's farm, so that she can turn around and GIFT it free-and-clear to a deserving couple
(partners of any description). BUT.... this incredibly gracious Gift WON'T be possible without YOUR help! 

Here's a look.... 
WHO: Norma DeCamp Burns in Bennett, North Carolina is trying to GIFT her 13-acre organic farm with a custom-built home, barn, car, tractors, even the chickens. After the tragic passing of her husband of 32 years Norma has spent the last 12 years stewarding the farm that they had once dreamed of in their retirement, alone. She wants to retire and says she's passing along the farm because she "believes in making it possible for new farmers to get started". The Gifted farm & land will be protected under a conservation easement so it will continue to give for decades to come. 
WHAT - THE GOAL: 
Norma has sponsored an essay opportunity in order to give this Gift. When it ended earlier this month she had only received 250 essays and that is not nearly enough! The deadline is 30 days away and BBH Farm is 350 entries short or roughly $105,000 is left on the mortgage. We desperately want this Gift to be possible because it stands for so much good, so we're raising money to help make it happen! 3 WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
1) DONATE! If you feel inspired by the selflessness
of a Gift as profound as this or want to show support for someone who has submitted an essay please consider making a donation of any amount. Please see "Transparency" below for more info.

2) SEND IN YOUR ESSAY! If you and your partner believe there's no better calling in life than raising organic food and are willing and able to put in the long days and hard work that farming requires, get inspired and write that essay to be considered! (Norma wasn't a farmer or professional gardener when she started.)

All money raised here will be donated as "anonymous
entries" to the clerk of Bluebird Hill Farm at the address on file. Any money raised above what's needed to pay off the mortgage will also be donated, to be given to the new owners for transition costs. Please see "Transparency" below for more info.

All "donors" making donations to the "Bluebird Hill Farm GIFT " fundraising page should do so with the understanding that the money raised on this page will be sent to BBH Farm in good faith regardless of the outcome of "the Gift". If a sufficient number of entries are not received by BBH Farm, donations on this page (ONLY) will not be returned. In our humble opinion stewarding this opportunity has been a financial, emotional and personal sacrifice for Norma. She has restored our faith in the kindness of strangers and inspired us to dream.
