Help make bisexuality more visible in Perth!
We are Bi+ Community Perth. We are the first and largest Perth-wide group that offers a safe place for bisexual+ people of all genders to meet each other, engage in respectful discussion, and form community. We currently have over 1,000 members and are continuing to grow.
Why do we need your help?
The fabulous reason: We have celebrated Bi+ Visibility Day and Pride Parade for a few years, and the number of people attending has grown dramatically in that time. What an amazing experience! Each year, we hope to make an even bigger and more spectacular splash.
The serious reason: The bi+ community often suffers from bi-invisibility and stigma within both the LGBTI and general communities. Research tells us that bi+ people are far less likely than their lesbian and gay peers to be out to their families, friends, and work colleagues. Bi+ people are more likely than those of other sexualities to experience mental health disparities. All of these grim statistics are the result of stigma and bi-invisibililty.
The good news: The more visible, out, and proud that we are as bi+ people, the more likely that we are to change these stats for the better. This is why we need your help.
What will the money be used for?
Your generous gift will go towards:
1) Putting on a memorable Bi+ Visibility Day event in September
2) Getting together an outstanding float at the Pride Parade in November
