The Bradshaws Adoption Fund

$18,186 of $16,500 goal

Raised by 133 people in 11 months
Created June 30, 2017
This love story is over 10 years in the making. Brittney and Tristan Bradshaw have desired to be parents and have waited on the Lord and have trusted and prayed. And in the way that God so often does, the Lord is weaving a story of redemption...this sweet couple get to bring sweet Jeremiah, 3 years old, into a forever home and family! They got the call on Thursday, June 29th, and all of a sudden God's "Not Yet" had become "Now"! So this is the time where their community gets to help with the finances and to ease the burden. To pray and to give, and to help make this transition as smooth as we can. This will be a private adoption, so we're hoping to raise $10,000 to go towards legal and other fees. In addition, because of extensive abuse in Jeremiah's past, he will need consistent therapy, which will only be covered by Medicaid until the adoption is finalized. The additional $6,500 will go towards therapy costs, purchases that will need to be made to provide for their new son, and time off from work so the family can bond. Please pray for wisdom, peace, and love to abound during this time, and please give what you can.

I don't know what to say....
Thank you doesn't seem to feel right. It doesn't express the reach or the impact of this campaign. Too much excitement, too much sharing, too many kind words to end with simply thank you feels like it falls short.

If you know me well you know that I believe "the lord loves to do preposterous things", but because I'm human I often doubt it for a second before it happens.

The day we got the call I wasn't sure I wanted to be a parent anymore, but worse I wasn't sure I should be. I had a good cry about it at Loco cafe and the words of an encouraging friend got me through that day and to the evening when we got the call about Jeremiah. We said yes to him for many reasons that we believe strongly in, but not because we were certain we should be parents.

I wanted to share that with you to say that the Lord knew we'd follow his command to care for orphans out of obedience even if we weren't sure we were right for the job... but the preposterous part was that he also knew you guys were going to back us with your money, your words, and over 1000 shares to social media.

Never have I believed we could do this more than after you rallied for us. This giant web of social media love has proven to us that PERFECT LOVE DOES CAST OUT FEAR.
You've said you think we can do it, that we are not alone, and that God as He says in his word he will always provide for his people.

Faith requires courage. And courage moves through fear. I'm afraid but I'm not alone. This campaign has resounded through our souls and made real for us one of our favorite bible stories. Elisha a prophet was surrounded by an enemy army in the night. His servant came out of the tent in the morning to realize they were surrounded and in fear he panicked (rightly so!):

15 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

But Elisha had faith saying:

16 He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."

Tristan and I signed up for adoption in faith, but our fears of failure, inadequacy, and all that can go wrong often feel like a surrounding army. This week we said yes to a little boy, an actual human needing love and shelter. And as we woke up Saturday morning feeling surrounded by our army of fears we prayed God would confirm that this was the right choice... And then just as Elisha prayed "17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” We saw you guys giving what you have and believing in what we are doing.

Can you imagine Elisha's servant after his eyes were opened, standing in awe turning in circles trying to understand where all those chariots of fire in the mountains came from and the excitement once he realized they were there to protect him and fight for him ? It's like all the best war movies when the back up army finally shows just in the nick of time.

Tristan and I came out of our tent and looked around and realized
we didn't need to be afraid,
"for those who are with us (YOU) are more than those who are with them (fear)."

This week YOU were Chariots of fire in the mountains surrounding us. You were warriors painted up like braveheart chanting you can do this over us.

Perfect love casts out fear and this week you have shown us perfect love ❤️

Love y'all

It is insane that there is only a little left to make our goal a reality. What crazy love, how do we receive it? With humility for sure. This is by far the most visible way we have ever seen God provide for us- and it's even better he's doing it through you guys. What a beautiful web of social media love.

Update: We have been trying to FaceTime Jeremiah this week as he learns about us through our adoption book. And we are falling in love. Of course I took screenshots and wanted To share one with you guys.

This little boy has no idea what's in store for him. He doesn't know I want to reach through the phone and pull him close to my chest. He doesn't know yet how much laughing we will do. He doesn't know how many people have rallied for him in the past two days. But I'm convinced when he finally learns of it it will transform him into the most amazing human being. God has plans.

It's almost Thursday buddy, no more face time. We are coming to get you.

Face timing ❤️

WHAT IS HAPPENNG!?
This was the quote of the day yesterday, as we watched you guys share our campaign and blow us past our halfway fundraising mark!
We are awestruck and humbled by your love and generosity. how does one even except such lavish love? Thank you seems insufficient.

We weren't even sure our goal was attainable, but we had to give it go - for Jeremiah. You have shown us it's possible! In the meantime we have been scrambling to put together a bedroom, locate a therapist, and prepare our hearts for our lives to change forever. (How do u even do that? Lol)

Jeremiah is still with his foster family. But he has our adoption book filled with pictures and will continue learning about us until we pick him up Thursday. Please keep praying and sharing the love.

he's almost home.

This story of you rallying and everyone sharing what little they have will become not only his bedtime story, but his story. I can't wait to tell him of all you guys did to make this happen- i can't wait until the day I can say "Jeremiah, sit down and let me tell you the whole story of how much God loves you."

Ps. We have learned he LOVES riding in the car, swimming, and playing hard outside.

Pps. We just realized we can now shop in the kids section.

PPPS. We also just realized we can buy stuff that says "mom and dad". So if you see us in cheesy gear know that we waiting a long time and we earned it.
Loves riding in the car!
