The Australian Islamic Centre, designed by internationally recognized Australian architect Glenn Murcutt in collaboration with Hakan Elevli, is uniquely contemporary in nature. It aims to promote peace, understanding and compassion through traditional Islamic values, welcoming Australians of both Islamic and non-Islamic backgrounds.
Planning of the centre has been ongoing for the past 10 years, and with an appropriate location selected and the incredible support from surrounding communities, construction has been ongoing for the past few years. There are many facilities that will be incorporated and have been divided over three phases. These include, but are not limited to a mosque, multi-function hall and a library with further facilities able to be explored here.
As a growing community, the aforementied centre is one of priceless value. It is inclusive and educational in all aspects of life, welcoming individuals of all ages and backgrounds. With every project, obastacles arise, and in this instance it is a financial obstacle which has caused the progression of the centre to slow down immensely. For this reason, we kindly ask for your support in helping us reach the finish line within the next few months, otherwise the project may be put on hold indefinitely.
